GEORGE (SONNY) DAVIS
July 1, 1943 - June 11, 2022
On Saturday, June 11, 2022, George Davis passed away at the age of 78 years, peacefully with family by his side.
George was predeceased by his Nanny, Pop, Mom and close friends.
Those left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of 44 years Donna; daughters, Melody (Roger) whom he loved as a son and Tammy "Boo Boo" Davis; grandchildren, Sean (Jaime) Cushnie, Randi (Jesse) Denton and Michael (Lindsay) Cushnie; great-grandchildren, Emmett, Miles, Maverick and Lennox; siblings, Bobby "Bryan" (Roberta) Davis and Lois Davis.
He had a special closeness with his nieces and nephews Debbie, Shawn, Candi, Bobby, Sarina and numerous great-nieces and great-nephews as well as cousins in the United States.
In following his Pop's footsteps, he worked with his brother and Pop as a porter for C.P.R. before retiring as Service Manager from Via Rail after 37 years.
George enjoyed music, cooking, the race track, gardening and it gave him great pleasure to watch the deer in his back yard. His favourite outing was going for rides to the park in his T-Bird with his beloved dog Snowball. George's joy was his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was so proud of them and so happy he could attend all their weddings. George loved to travel with Donna and his family; their favourite, most memorable being the Dominican Republic.
George's beloved siblings-in-law and numerous nieces and nephews will greatly miss their "Wise Owl" who gave them the best advice and was always there when needed.
Special thanks to the home care nurses who provided such loving and compassionate care. Thank you also to the palliative care unit at Riverview Health Centre. We would also like to thank our niece Debbie Davis for being our Angel and Ray of Sunshine throughout this very difficult time.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Winnipeg Humane Society.
A celebration of George's life will be held Friday, June 24, 2022, at 10:00 a.m., at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Avenue, with private interment to follow.
