CAROL WILSON
(nee SINCLAIR)
It is with great sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Carol Wilson on June 15, 2022 at Red River care home in Selkirk, Manitoba with family by her side.
She leaves to mourn her daughter: Mindy Rae Wilson (Drew Allwright), grandson: Holden Wilwright, siblings: Janice Forbes, Cliff Sinclair (Joan), Peter Sinclair (Cindy), mother-in-law: Florence Wilson, brothers-in-law: Terry and Dale Wilson, cousins: Herb and Pauline Wilks, and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Carol was predeceased by her husband Jim Wilson, parents: Murray and Irene (Sinclair) Wilson, siblings: Dennis (Chuck) and Della Delf, father-in-Law: Bob Wilson, brothers-in-law: Raymond Delf and Wilson Forbes, stepfather: Del Wilson.
Born March 10, 1949 in Treherne, Manitoba to Murray and Irene Sinclair, Carol was raised on the family farm in Rathwell. Eventually moving to Winnipeg where she worked at MacLeods. After Jim and Carol were married, they purchased their dream cottage at Ironwood Point near Hillside Beach later turning it into their home. After Jim's passing in 1986 Carol and Mindy continued to call Ironwood point home until moving the original cottage to it's permanent home at Victoria Beach.
Carol began work in the payroll department at the Abitibi Price Paper Mill in the mid 1990s, retiring in 2008/2009. Carol made many friends in the Pine Falls area over the years and enjoyed working at the mill during its glory days.
After retiring Carol filled her days with reading, gardening and volunteering, notably with the East Beaches Animal Services (EBAS). Carol was a founding member of EBAS, which was established not long after Sandra Ateah ran out of room for cats in her own house. Sandra used the old "it will only be for a night or two" swindle and dropped off 2 kittens . In the end that "night or two" at Carol's house turned into more like 18 years. In that time Carol's house became the unofficial EBAS office and the temporary last resort for many cats to follow even after she'd gone to the care home.
Carol enjoyed trips to Florida, Nashville, Vegas, casino trips and Manitoba road trips over the years but most of all enjoyed spending time in Rathwell with her mom and family, yet would always consider "the Beach" home.
In her most recent years her osteoporosis caused her great pain and restricted her abilities to live independently but she still enjoyed watching curling and complaining about the Jets. Carol's spirit was reignited once Holden was born, whether they were reading books or folding laundry, they both always had a smile.
We would like to thank Sandra, Raymond, Linda, Penny, her neighbours and friends, and the Beaches Home Care team for helping her stay in her home as long as she did. Also thank you to the staff at Tudor House and Red River Place in Selkirk for the care and patience they showed her these last 2 years.
In lieu of flowers please consider a donation to East Beaches Animal Services, Box 51, Victoria Beach, MB R0E2C0 or a charity of your choice.
Celebration of Life will be held Wednesday June 22 at 2 p.m. at the Rathwell Memorial Hall in Rathwell MB.
