LEO LAPOINTE
December 18, 1943 - June 28, 2022

Leo (Red) Lapointe was 78 years young when he passed peacefully, June 28, 2022, in hospital after a brief stay in Intensive Care at St. Boniface Hospital, in Winnipeg. His wife, Geraldine (nee Trider) and his daughter Chantalle were at his side.
Leo was a loving husband, proud father and a devoted grandfather to his only granddaughter Alexandrine, aka Allie. Leo is survived by his wife, daughter, granddaughter, sister Claudette Proulx, and many nieces and nephews.
Leo lived a full life and was never one to pass up an opportunity to tell anyone who would listen about "the good 'ol days." He will be missed dearly by all who knew him, but the sound of his laugh will forever live on.
In accordance with Red's wishes, cremation has taken place and a private interment will be held at Glen Lawn Cemetery.
The family is requesting in lieu of flowers, that a donation be made to Muscular Dystrophy Canada, or Manitoba Possible.

Condolences & Memories (7 entries)

  • Had lots of good visits with Red & Gerry! Good times and lots of laughs, one of the VERY few I called to chat. His passing made me realize our time could be anytime! This was unexpected at least by me, as dinosaurs should live forever! Gerri and family please accept my hugs and best wishes! There was only one Red and he will be remembered and missed! - Posted by: Daniel & Lizette Desjardins (Freinds) on: Jul 04, 2022

  • Uncle Red was always a great person to meet up with. I had the pleasure of meeting him the first when he was a teenager and he came to visit us in Richvale (Just north of Toronto). My sisters and I were so full of anticipation to find out who had brought cowboy boots into our house. Over many years we met up in a number of different locations across Canada and we always shared good times, lots of laughs and the occasional drink. Such good memories will stay with me forever. What a great guy. So full of stories and always displayed typical western hospitality. I sincerely regret I didn't get one last chance to join him, Geri, Chantel and Allie in Winnipeg. - Posted by: BrianBailey ( Bucky) (Nephew) on: Jul 03, 2022

  • My heart just breaks to hear of Uncle Red's passing. He was so full of life. I have so many happy memories of him and his big laugh. He was loved by our family. Many hugs to Gerri and aunt Claudette for the great loss of a brother and a husband. I send you both much love - Posted by: Judi Clarke (Niece ) on: Jul 02, 2022

  • Thinking of you Geri, Chantalle and Allie. So saddened to hear that we lost our larger than life Uncle Red. We have many treasured memories over the years and are so happy to have had the pleasure of calling him our Uncle. Our thoughts and prayers are with you now. • Will miss all your e-mails with joke attachments Rouge. We both were born and raised in Laurier, Manitoba. Red liked to play hockey. He could be a wild man at times. He had a big heart. Reminded me a lot of his dad Leo Lapointe in his mannerisms. Denis Letain - Posted by: Denis Letain (Friend) on: Jul 02, 2022
