JULIEN GERHARD LANGE
August 11, 2003 – June 22, 2022

Surrounded by loving and caring people, Julien died at St. Amant, just a few weeks shy of his 19th birthday. Though our hearts are heavy with sorrow and longing, we, Julien's parents – Ilona and Dirk – find great comfort in knowing that his health challenges are no longer burdening him and that he is free of pain at last.
We love to think that he can bike, swim, hang out with friends and push his nightly curfew, tease his sisters, and pick his favourite music or book whenever he wishes... all the things we take for granted but which were never part of Julien's life.
His presence was and remains integral in the lives of his sisters - Florence, Noémi, and Simone - a very special brother who taught them compassion and empathy like no parent or teacher ever could. Julien's lasting legacy will stay with his sisters throughout their lives.
We rejoice in knowing that Julien joins his beloved Omi and Opi, Ursula and Gerhard Lange, and that together they now enjoy their favourite gardens and music. His Polish grandparents, Barbara and Jan, lovingly treasure the memories of the time they spent taking care of Julien during his only visit with them when still a baby.
Julien is also survived by his aunt and uncle, Brita and Dave Chell - his steady companions at Christmas parties - and by their family; by his aunt Brigitte as well as many relatives all over Europe.
Julien's great friend and admirable advocate, Sister Ginger Patchen, is ready with her bag full of crafts and goodies to make up for all the time he was not able to be creative. His Aunt Marita Kith will welcome Julien with her exuberant laughter which he always heard down the hallway long before she would shower him with hugs and kisses.
Julien leaves behind his St. Amant community - the loving and committed people who created a second home for him. They not only attended to Julien's complex medical needs, but also welcomed his whole family: generously offering a shoulder to cry upon, an ear to listen to the good and bad, and unwavering support as we journeyed with Julien through all the years.
We are indebted to so many of you for the love you gave to Julien and for the steady reassurance you provided to us. We would have been at a loss without you. You were Julien's bonus family, and he could not have been more fortunate to have you.
A private Resurrection Liturgy for Julien will be held on Wednesday, July 13, 2022 at 2:00 p.m. at the Chapel of St. Amant. The Rev. Canon Murray Still presiding.
In lieu of flowers, those who so desire may make donations in memory of Julien to St. Amant (440 River Rd., Winnipeg, MB R2M 3Z9, Canada).
