DORIS TERESA SOKOLIK
March 19, 1946 - July 4, 2022

Doris Sokolik passed away on Monday, July 4, 2022. She is predeceased by her husband Leo Sokolik, brother Nestor Kozak and her father Peter Kozak. Doris was the only daughter of Verna and Peter Kozak of Tolstoi, Manitoba. She helped on the farm and in the kitchen. At an early age, Doris knew school was not for her. She left the farm to seek work in Winnipeg. After a year or so Doris moved west to Calgary, where she met the love of her life, Leo. They met at their favourite dance hall, The Gardens. Doris and Leo were married on October 26, 1968. Doris enjoyed shopping, word search, gardening and creating new recipes in her kitchen.
Doris is survived by her sons Micheal (Janette) and John Sokolik; grandsons Nash and Christian; her mother Verna Kozak; and her brothers Billy (Kathy) and Peter Jr. (Lelia) Beaufoy.
Doris opened her door and her heart to everyone that came into her path and made each one feel a special warmth and love. At Doris' request there will not be a formal memorial service. It is her wish that friends and loved ones celebrate the joy of her life in their memory. Instead of sending flowers, Doris asked that you take a friend out for coffee and talk to them about the things we often think of after someone is gone.
Doris always enjoyed a visit, offering your beverage of choice and you certainly weren't leaving on an empty stomach!
