MARTHA WOWRYK
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved wife, mother, baba and great-grandmother Martha on July 29, 2022.
She is survived by Frank, her husband of 73 years; their three children, Roger (Valerie), Glenn (Valerie) and Joanne (James). She was baba Martha to her granddaughters, Chloe (David) and Clare (Chris) and to her great-grandchildren, Olsen, Loa and Oona. She is survived by her sisters, Ann and Jean.
She was preceded by her parents and brothers, Joe and Mike and her sisters, Nellie, Mary and Helen.
Martha was born in 1929 at the family farm in Seech, Manitoba, where she attended school, worked at Shoal Lake Hospital until she met and married Frank and they moved to Winnipeg.
Mom was gracious, generous and devoted to her family. She kept a beautiful home and an exquisite garden. She was an excellent cook, baker, decorator, seamstress and fisherwoman. There wasn't anything Martha couldn't master to perfection. Her traditional twelve-dish Christmas Eve dinners were legendary, as were her fishing excursion lunches. She loved providing daily childcare for her granddaughters. She adored them endlessly and took so much delight in their accomplishments. She will be sadly missed but fondly remembered by her family and friends.
The family would like to thank the staff at Cornish 6 of the Misericordia Hospital and Father Bohdan Lukie for their care and comfort.
Cremation has taken place. A service for Martha will be held on Thursday, August 11, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. at Cropo Funeral Home, 1442 Main Street, Winnipeg, MB.
