BARBARA LYNNE BAXTER
1940 - 2022
Lynne Baxter beloved wife of Jim Baxter passed away on August 7, 2022, with family by her side. In addition to Jim, her husband of 65 years, she is survived by her sons Don and Rob (wife Marisa Baxter), daughter Diane (husband Blair Cooke), and her three granddaughters who she loved dearly, Chandra Cooke, Stephanie Turner (husband Tyson Turner) and Megan Cooke.
Lynne was predeceased by her parents Bert and Hilda Brown, and her brother Blake Brown. She is also survived by her brother Ken Brown, sister Pat Selinger (husband Chris Selinger), sisters - in - law Dar Brown and Shirl Brown, and many nieces and nephews.
Lynne always had a desire to be a school teacher, but when she graduated from high school at age 16, she was informed that she did not satisfy the then minimum age requirement for admission to the University of Saskatchewan teacher training program.
Later that year she and Jim met, married, and they raised three children. At age 37, she enrolled at the University of Manitoba, and graduated with a Bachelor of Education degree in 1981. That fall, she commenced her teaching career, and retired in 1998.
Lynne loved to travel, especially European tours of which she took several. Of those, her most memorable were the three separate trips she took to Europe with each of her three granddaughters.
Lynne and Jim were active in the local square dance community, and travelled to many square dance events throughout Canada and the American Midwest.
We would like to thank Lynne's family doctor Dr. Danais Brown, CancerCare at Victoria Hospital, and the Palliative Care team for the support they provided to Lynne.
Donations in Lynne's memory may be made to her favourite charities Siloam Mission, Salvation Army, Winnipeg Harvest, or the charity of choice.
A private family memorial service to be held.
