Jared Jacob Friesen of Rosser, a kind and generous man, passed away on Wednesday, August 3, 2022 at the age of 49.
He was born in 1972 to John and Marlene (Bradshaw) Friesen. Jared was a friend to everyone he met, and jumped in to help anyone who had need. His passion for people meant he knew when to be kind, when to be tough, and when to lighten the mood with a joke or funny story. He always found a way to connect with people, and had a gift for making each person he spoke to feel like they were the most important person in the world to him. He adored his children and family, and cherished the times when all were gathered together at the lake cottage on Pelican Harbour.
Jared was a man of action with a heart for service. He was active in his community as a volunteer firefighter with the Rosser Fire Department, a trainer for the St. James Rods and Interlake Thunder youth football teams, served as a volunteer paramedic for the MHJA, was a member of Action Group, coached multiple youth hockey teams, was active at the Redboine Boat Club, and so much more. He was a sportsman who was especially passionate about hockey, and never missed a Jets game. He also loved skiing, scuba diving, boating, and building and fixing things with his hands. If there was a problem, Jared could solve it.
Jared was a highly skilled craftsman who worked most of his life at Provincial Floorcraft in Winnipeg. He had a vision for creating unique, beautiful spaces, and the talent to make it happen. He always saw the potential in even the most run-down things, and knew how to transform the broken into something useful and beautiful.
Left behind to cherish his memory are his father John (Naomi); girlfriend Karen McClelland; two beloved children, Ellen Friesen and Jesse Friesen (mother Lynn); two brothers, Paul (Evelyn) and James (Joelle); his faithful companion Copper; four nephews and two nieces; many aunts and uncles, and so many friends.
Jared is preceded in death by his mother Marlene (Bradshaw) Friesen.
A service to celebrate Jared's life will be held at 10:00 a.m. on August 17 at Grant Memorial Church (877 Wilkes Avenue, Winnipeg) with a private interment to follow at Chapel Lawn Cemetery.
A public reception for all family and friends will be held at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home (4000 Portage Avenue, Winnipeg) following the internment.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Bruce Oake Foundation.
