EUFEMIA (INANG) MATIAS
It is with deep regret that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt and friend, Eufemia "Inang" Matias, 97, on August, 15, 2022. She passed peacefully surrounded by family.
Born on September 12, 1924 in the heart of Nueva Ecjia, Philippines, she devoted her life to her nine children and their families.
She will be forever loved and missed by her sons, Francisco (late Esperanza, Leny), Demetrio (Leonila), Teodoro (Mary), Nelson (Edna), and Nicanor (Aning); and her daughter, Barbara (late Leonilo), along with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband, Emiliano and her three sons, Ruben (Perla), Generoso (Cherry) and Raul (Norma).
The simplest pleasures in life and the presence of her family would bring a smile to Eufemia's face. Her pleasant personality was contagious with everyone she met. With the mind as sharp as a needle, Eufemia always made sure she knew all the names of her family members and had a story to go along with them. Having immigrated to Canada in 1990, our Inang never forgot about her family back home. Her golden heart truly shines and will continue to shine through us all.
Family, friends, and others whose lives Eufemia touched are invited to the Celebration of Life (Lamay) at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home & Cemetery, 4000 Portage Avenue, Winnipeg, MB, from 6:00 p.m. to 11:30 p.m. on Saturday, August 20, 2022.
Followed by her Funeral Memorial Mass at St. Peter's Roman Catholic Church, 748 Keewatin Street, Winnipeg, MB, at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, August 23, 2022.
The family wishes to send a special thank you to the staff at the Grace Hospital for their care and compassion. The comfort and patience will not go unmentioned for the care of our dearest Eufemia.
