MARGARET MAY MOROZ
Peacefully on August 25, 2022, after a lengthy illness, Margaret May Moroz, at the age of 89 years.
Born in Winnipeg on November 11, 1932, to Nazar and Ksenia Lutz, Margaret grew up in Winnipeg's North End. After graduating from St. John's High School, where she made many treasured and lifelong friendships, she took a position as an x-ray technician, a job she held until after she married her husband Ben and began to raise a family.
Re-entering the work force after her sons were in school, Margaret enjoyed a very successful career in real estate, and particularly cherished the person-to-person relationships she formed as a result of her work. She was a voracious antique collector, and was surrounded by countless unique and interesting pieces in her home. Music was a constant presence in her life; she loved to listen to music on the radio and streamed over the internet, she looked forward to her triennial pilgrimage to Banff for the International String Quartet Competition held there, and while at home she could always be found at WSO and Winnipeg Chamber Music Society live concerts, maintaining a membership in the WSO's Women's Committee for many years.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Ben, her husband of 49 years, and siblings Irene, William and Andrew.
She is survived by her sister Janice, children, David (Gwen), Daniel, Brian (Manon), grandchildren, Miranda, Sasha, Sapphire, Juliana, Sébastien and Benjamin, and an extended family that remembers her fondly as "Auntie Marg."
Cremation and a private family memorial will be held at a future date.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Winnipeg Symphony Orchestra or the Winnipeg Chamber Music Society.

Deepest condolences in the loss of your sister, mother, grandmother, and friend. For as long as I can remember, “Margaret and Ben Moroz” were always in ‘our family’. Over the last number of years she and I became closer because of her love and caring for our dear mom. We often spoke on the phone and I had a lovely time visiting her (more than once) at her condo. She was a wonderful person and I feel blessed to have had the chance to know her. Prayers of peace and strength to all her family. I've known Margaret for over sixty years. I also know Janice & knew Andy. When our grand daughter was an infant (she is ten now) my late husband, George & I were at Safeway with Harlow & ran into Margaret. She was taken with Harlow & suggested that we come over for lunch the next time we were looking after her. So the following week we went to Margaret's condo for lunch & we did that at least four times a year. After George died over four years ago, Harlow & I continued to visit Margaret & on occasion she came to my home. Even though we told Margaret not to go to any trouble she always made the most fabulous lunches for us. Margaret told Harlow she could go anywhere in her condo that she wanted to. Harlow truly loved Margaret who was so kind to her showing her all the interesting items she had from her days as a collector. When Margaret became ill Harlow & I continued to visit. We told Margaret we would stay for only ten minutes because she tired easily but it always ended up being at least 45 minutes because Margaret would say "I'm not tired anymore". Our last visit was a few weeks before Margaret went to Riverview. I was fortunate to be able to visit her there. Margaret adored Harlow & liked having a younger child in her life as her grandchildren are older now. We will miss Margaret so much. She was a wonderful friend & I have so many fond memories of her. Harlow will remember her fondly for the rest of her life. That is such a gift. My heartfelt condolences to all her family. She loved you so much.......Karin xo - Posted by: Karin Woods(Kozub) (long time friend) on: Aug 29, 2022

Margaret was such a wonderful woman, with a lovely smile for everyone! Even long after I left the WSO, we would see each other at WSO events and she always had a happy hello for me! When Ben joined the Winnipeg Philharmonic Choir, it meant I got to see her again as I sang with him in the choir. David and Gwen - sending my deepest sympathies to you, your children and your family on your mom's passing. I will very much miss her. - Posted by: Glynis Corkal (Friend) on: Aug 29, 2022

Sincere sympathy to Janice, David and Gwen and their family, Daniel and family and Brian. Margaret gave confidence to the family so they could do their best with each new challenge in life. Margaret was a premiere supporter of everyone who pursued a career in music. She attended decades of concerts especially for the Winnipeg Symphony Orchestra and the Winnipeg Chamber Music Society. The WSO Women's Committee reached many new members with her encouragement. Margaret will be remembered fondly in the coming concert years performed by her family members and occasions of celebrations. - Posted by: Ron Lambert (Friend) on: Aug 27, 2022

Margaret is a beautiful soul, radiant inside and out. The last WSO Women’s Committee holiday luncheon was missing a certain joyful energy in the form of Margaret Moroz, always smiling and enthusiastic. Margaret was very kind, loving and caring, ensuring you left her lovely home with a little keepsake of your visit. Margaret loved her family dearly—she showed off your photos and stories of your lives and accomplishments with great love and pride. My deepest sympathy to all of Margaret’s precious family and to Margaret’s many beloved friends. Thank you to my sister, Debra Mosher, for introducing me to one of her dearest friends so many years ago. There will never be another Margaret. She will be remembered.
