MARION NOWELL
(MacKINNON, nee FOX)

October 28, 1938 - August 22, 2022

What a wonderful life I've had. Nineteen years longer than I expected and almost to my 84th birthday! At the age of 60, I began telling everyone that I was on my last five years. I sure fooled them! I've been blessed with the warmth of a wonderful family and the satisfaction of gaining so many interesting and loyal friends along the way.
I was born and raised in Winnipeg and spent my life in Manitoba. I spent my youth growing up in St. James with my parents, Leroy and Betty Fox, and my sister Pearl, all predeceased. With my first husband, Joseph MacKinnon, I raised four children: daughters, Rose-Ann and Colleen (Rick); and sons, Kevin (Sharron) and Michael (Christine). In 1977, I married my second husband, Richard (Dick) Nowell, and I gained a stepson Richard (Alisa). In turn, from the five children, I was blessed with 13 grandchildren; Christa-Lynn, Shauna, Steven, Amanda, Georgia, Amber, Melanie, Karly, Jonathon, Dylan, Duncan, Rachel and Bonnie and many great-grandchildren. I also leave behind numerous nieces and nephews.
I enjoyed an active life, held many jobs and finally retired from my longest held position at Transport Canada. When I was younger, I loved singing and dancing, and then later other pastimes that I enjoyed were travelling (especially casino trips and cruises), bingo, canasta, aquacising and carpet bowling.
Special thanks go to all my children for being there for me; you never let me down. Thank you to the staff at Concordia Hospital for their care and compassion during my illness.
I don't want you to send flowers, but if you would like please consider a donation to a charity of your choice.
Memorial service to be held at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Ave. on Monday, September 12, 2022 at 2:00 p.m.

Condolences & Memories (1 entries)

  • It is with heavy heavy hearts we hear of your passing Marion. Every year Anthony & I anxiously awaited your annual Christmas greeting and letter. So many years have passed when we were so much younger, working at T.C., hanging out together, sharing laugher, tears, good times and bad times, family trials and tributes. We miss you .... - Posted by: lesley hoban & Anthony Funk (ex co workers and friends) on: Jul 05, 2023
