GWEN HUDSON

It is with deep sadness that Gwen's family announce her passing at home surrounded by family on Saturday, September 17, 2022 at the age of 87 years.
Gwen will be forever missed by her son Lance (Leanne) and their children, Delainey and Orin and son Darren (Danica). Also missing her is her furry friend of 19 years, Poochie, as well as her close friend Edie of more than 60 years.
She was predeceased by her father and mother, Fred and Doris Tod and her partner Ken Coombs.
Gwen was born on January 22, 1935 and was Fred and Doris' only child. She was an elementary school teacher for grade one until she retired at the age of 55. Throughout her life, Gwen selflessly dedicated so much of her time volunteering. She volunteered at CancerCare for children for 13 years, church Bingos, making sandwiches for funerals, Country Fest, Pan Am Games and many years running the gift shop at the Dauphin Hospital.
Mom met Ken Coombs the love of her life in 1996 and made a life with him in Dauphin. She loved helping with the cows on his farm. Many years were enjoyed gardening, fishing, animals and especially curling and when she couldn't play anymore, she would watch it religiously. She took delight in spending time at her cabin at West Hawk Lake and travelling to many places and even as far as New Zealand. Mom also enjoyed crossword puzzles, reading a good mystery novel, loved to write a letter, sending cards, texting, emailing and over the last couple of years Face Timing on her iPhone.
The family would like to thank all of those who cared for Gwen at the Beausejour Hospital.
At Gwen's request, cremation has taken place and a private celebration of her life will be held.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Gwen's memory may be made to the The Humane Society or CancerCare Manitoba.
