LINDA FAYE JOHNSTON

It is with sadness that we wish to announce the peaceful passing of Linda, on October 22, 2022, after a lengthy illness. Leaving to mourn her are her three sisters, Marion, Marlene and Donna, her nephew Julian and niece Jade, many extended family and long-time friend Barbara (Brydon) Larkin.
Linda was born January 12, 1953, in Shoal Lake, Manitoba. She was raised on the family farm at Solsgirth and received her schooling in Solsgirth and her high school in Birtle, MB. After graduating from high school, Linda became part of the horse racing world. She spent many years working throughout the southern United States from east to west. In 1976 she married Jeffrey Eisbrenner. They spent a good number of years working together with the horses across Canada from Toronto to Edmonton, Calgary, and Winnipeg. After their divorce, Linda went back to school and became a Health Care Aid, working for a short time at St Boniface Hospital then moving over to Home Care. She developed a very caring relationship with many of her clients. Throughout her Health Care career, she continued to be a part of Assiniboia Downs as an owner and trainer with her sister Marion. In 2009, she was the lucky recipient of a kidney transplant from her nephew Julian, for which she was forever grateful, giving her a second chance at life.
A burial is being planned at the family plot in the Birtle Cemetery in the near future with a Celebration of Life being planned for next spring at Assiniboia Downs. Contact Thomson Funeral Home for service details.
If you so choose, donations could be made to Manitoba Kidney Foundation, 1 - 452 Dovercourt Drive, Winnipeg, MB R3Y 1G4, in memory of Linda.
