LINA CROWLEY

On, Friday, November 25, 2022, Lina Crowley, loving wife, grandmother, and mother of four, passed away peacefully in the family home, surrounded by her loved ones, at the age of 64.
Born to Frank and Teresa Ciraco in San Vito, Italy, Lina moved with her mother and sister, Maryse, to Toronto, Canada in 1958. She attended Monarch Park High School and went on to work for George's Jewelers and later TD Bank where she met lifelong friends Janice Book and Cathy Burke, who would later introduce her to her husband, Jay Crowley.
Mom and Dad started their lives together in Kleinberg, Ontario and never shared a dull moment in their 37 years of marriage. Between sailing trips with lifelong friends, new home purchases and renovations in different Canadian cities, and four beautiful children: Lillian (Stu), Brittany (Derek), Jason, and Damian, her hands and heart were always full.
Lina excelled in motherhood and showcased the best, and quirkiest, aspects of her personality in raising her children. She imparted all her culinary knowledge and traditions to her kids, along with her ability to host and entertain. She instilled confidence and independence in them by teaching the value of compassion, listening, and a good sense of humour. Lina will always be remembered for her kindness and her generosity; her love knew no limits.
She had impeccable taste and an eye for design which was immensely helpful in all facets of the family businesses. Her attention to detail flowed from the garden centre to her many gardens at home - she didn't miss. Mom's final project, a culmination of her life's experience, is the new family cottage in Clearwater Bay, which will be finished in time for Mother's Day next spring.
She is, and will continue to be, greatly missed by everyone. We love you Mom.
A Celebration Mass will be held on January 11, 2023, at 2:00 p.m. at St. Ignatius Parish, 255 Stafford St., Winnipeg. The family asks that any flowers are saved for the spring and planted in your garden in her memory.

  • What a beautiful tribute for a beautiful soul. We’ve lived across the street from the Crowley home for 11 years now, and are longtime friends with Stu, Lillian & Collins. There hasn’t been a more welcoming, caring, or well appointed house in our neighbourhood (or perhaps any). This is Lina’s way. If the billowing hydrangeas didn’t draw you in, it was impossible not to notice that big smile, often waving from the front step - that’s Lina. Plugged in, bubbly, creative, thoughtful and silly. We will miss having her around for all of these reasons. But she won’t be forgotten by any of the Zentners. We will be there to mourn, and eventually smile and reminisce with you, Crowley Family. - Posted by: Erica & Lev Zentner (Neighbour and Family Friends) on: Dec 03, 2022

  • Jay such sad news, so sorry for your loss. - Posted by: Graham Gork (Friend of Jay) on: Dec 03, 2022

  • We are so sorry for the Crowley family's loss. Jason is such a special person in our lives and we have only ever heard such amazing things about his Mom. We are grateful for the son she raised and can see how much she was loved by friends and family. You are all in our thoughts and prayers, Lainie & Gus Lanzarotta - Posted by: Gus & Lainie Lanzarotta (Close friends to Jason) on: Dec 03, 2022

  • I am Morgan, a former coworker of Brittany’s. Although I don’t live in Manitoba any longer, she is one of my last coworkers I worked with before moving to Toronto, and I’m so happy I got to know her. The love Brittany expressed and expresses for her Mother is insurmountable, it is something I remember most about Brittany, an undeniably loyal daughter to an amazing Mother. At a loss for words, I am sending my deepest prayers, longest hugs to your whole Family and Friend networks, for no hug is long enough, but my Goodness, I send my love. Love, Morgan - Posted by: Morgan Skakum (Friend of Brittany) on: Dec 03, 2022
