KLAAS (CLARENCE) STUVE

Peacefully on December 2, 2022, surrounded by his family, the Lord called Klaas home.
He was born November 3, 1925, in Bierum, The Netherlands and educated there. He served with the Dutch Expeditionary Force in Indonesia from 1946 to 1950. In April 1951 he married Tryntje (Tina) Braaksma and immigrated in July the same year to Canada, settling into Winnipeg, where they raised a family of five boys and one girl. Klaas started working for Ogilvie Flour Mills in 1952 until his retirement in 1988. After their retirement they spent summers in Winnipeg and travelled to Holland most winters until 1998. Then Tina passed in April 2004.
Klaas remarried Utje (Eva) Van Dorp on October 1, 2005.
Klaas will be greatly missed by his sons, Bill (Viviane), Ike (Cheryl), John (Giselle), Gary (Yvonne), Ron (Marianne), daughter Jenny (Al); his 17 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren, one sister in Canada and two sisters in Holland, as well as Eva's children and their families, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Klaas was predeceased by his first wife of 53 years, Tina (2004), his second wife Eva (2018), his parents, four sisters, one brother.

Weep not for me, but courage take.
Love each other for my sake. For those
you love don't go away. They walk beside you every day.

Pallbearers would be his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
The family extends their gratitude to the staff in the ER at Health Sciences Centre and doctors and nurses at Victoria Hospital 4th floor North for their understanding and compassionate care of our father.
Funeral service will take place on December 12 at 2:00 p.m. at Green Acres Funeral Home. A public viewing will be one half hour prior to service, with interment to follow at Green Acres. Those wishing to join virtually can access the Livestream thru Klaas's obituary at www.greenacresfuneralhome.com

Condolences & Memories (3 entries)

  • So sorry to hear about Klaas, I meet him at 1630 playing "crib" on Thursday night I was the only one who pronounced his name right, because I am also "Dutch" so no problem and he talked about his time in Indonesia with I remember the boys born in 1928 were the last ones to go over there I was born that year. May he rest in peace. Nelly - Posted by: Nelly Spapens (Friend) on: Dec 11, 2022

  • So sorry to hear the Klaas is no longer with us. We thoroughly enjoyed his company pre-Covid at the Meal Program and recently Thursday night "Crib" at 1630. We tested his patience while trying to pronounce is name properly. Norma - Posted by: norma zyla (friend) on: Dec 10, 2022
