YVONNE NAZARKO
(nee KEILBACK)

Aware that she was loved by all her family, Yvonne died on December 11, 2022.
Yvonne was born to Joseph and Anna (Wuchert) on January 14, 1922 in Cloverleaf. She spent her early years on the farm and in Beausejour surrounded by the large extended Keilback family.
During the Second World War she worked as a riveter at S&S Aircraft before moving to Hazelridge where she met and married Paul Nazarko. There they operated a community general store until 1981.
Baba, as she was called by her family, was predeceased by her parents; her siblings, Norman, Charles, and Doreen (Houde); her husband Paul, all of Paul's siblings, and by son Lionel.
Yvonne is survived by her sons, Brian (Jan) and Grant (Eileen); daughter-in-law Neila (Rick); grandchildren, Gordon, Orla (Glen Friesen), Bronagh (Tom Janzen), Nuala (Ryan Kuffner), Niall (Jill Stevens), Heidi, Soren, and Anton (Eugenia Kim); and 12 great-grandchildren. She is survived by numerous nieces and nephews and special friends, sister-in-law Maggie Keilback and Kathleen Loeb, her friend of almost 90 years.
She continued to make friends throughout all her life, enjoyed visits and staying in touch with those friends and family far away.
Thank you to the staff members at Tuxedo Villa who cared for her these past two and one-half years.
Funeral Liturgy will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, December 17 at St. John Brebeuf Parish, 1707 John Brebeuf Place in Winnipeg.

Condolences & Memories (5 entries)

  • We would like to express our deepest sympathy to both the immediate Nazarko and Keilback families, past business associates, neighbors and friends. Both my Mother the late Julia KRAWCHUK (nee Buchko) and myself Valerie Kent (nee KRAWCHUK) had the opportunity of growing up in Cloverleaf (a suburb of Hazelridge!!!) therefore our acquaintances are spread over two generations. I had the privilege of attending SPRINGFIELD COLLEGIATE INSTITUTE along with Brian, Grant and the late Lionel Nazarko. The endearing Nazarko family in the community of Hazelridge spread far and wide, even to the extent of Grant sharing a dance with me at our Wedding Reception which was held in Hazelridge. A wonderful family indeed, who will remain a precious memory to myself, and all those that had the privilege of knowing anyone in their family. We will always acknowledge the fact that those who have departed "are not gone, they are just away". Brian and Grant (and your extended families), may the memories of your Mother (Baba) remain deeply embedded in your hearts and minds. With our sincerest condolences, "Valerie" and Tony Kent. - Posted by: Valerie and Tony Kent (Friends ) on: Jan 04, 2023

  • Many many memories shopping with my parents Dan and Ann. Walking to the store during lunch hour from school with 6 cents to buy a popsicle. Condolences to the family. - Posted by: Georgina Spewak Leschyshyn (Neighbour) on: Dec 17, 2022

  • We were heartbroken to hear of Yvonne’s passing. She was a huge part of my grandmother Kay’s life and therefore part of our lives. Their almost 90 year friendship was an inspiration. Yvonne’s continued positivity and glass half full outlook on life will live on in all who knew her. Your family is in our thoughts and prayers. • Our deepest condolences to the families. Mr and Mrs Nazarko were best friends with my parents (Alex and Vera). She will surely be missed. She was such a wonderful spirited lady. I enjoyed our visit years ago before I moved to Medicine Hat. Rest in peace pretty lady. - Posted by: Lynne Chabluk (Stratton) (Friends) on: Dec 14, 2022

  • Yvonne Nazarko and her husband Paul operated a country store at Hazelridge, Manitoba for many years. Paul also delivered bulk fuel to local area farmers. We were one of their customers both for fuel and groceries. They also ran the post office located in their store. They often joked about people waiting till five minutes to closing time to rush to their store. Both were exemplary people as business owners, friends and neighbors, always polite, always smiling and very pleasant. Yvonne will now join Paul in an everlasting union. Her family was so blessed to have her for so many years. May her family take solace in having her in their lives for so long. Bless you all with the good memories of your wonderful matriarch. With sincere sympathy, Kathy & Bill Fecio - Posted by: Kathy & Bill Fecio (Past customers at their store) on: Dec 14, 2022
