Condolences & Memories (7 entries)

  • Just want to pass along our condolences to Lorraine and the family. Please know we are thinking of you during these difficult times. From many years on the same cul de sac, and seeing motor homes, great travels, sports cars, and fancy golf carts and most of all a beautiful family with many happy grandchildren, you have inspired us with a life well lived!! • Bruce and I worked together for many years at Transit, as an operator and Supervisor. He and I would meet at the “York” Robins for the 9 o’clock gathering of the on street Supervisors. He always would try to get a free coffee out of me whenever possible. Bruce loved to work on the street as a Transit Supervisor, he taught me a lot and was good at his job. Condolences to all the Miller family. - Posted by: Darryl Fahlman (Co-worker) on: Dec 24, 2022

  • Condolences to Lorraine, Tanya, Nicole and Michele and grandchildren and sons-in-laws. He will be missed by many. I first met Bruce when he registered for the Fifth Class Driving Instructor program at Red River College and I was the instructor. He then became an in-car driving instructor for two of the schools in Transcona where I was teaching the classroom. Bruce was well liked by his students. He was a professional but always had a sense of humour and would tell a funny joke or two during the lessons. He was patient and kind to his students. Many of his students took an extra lesson or two when they were preparing for their Class 5 driving test/exam. He was one of a kind and his former students will have fond memories of him. Lorraine used to kid that she would phone me to see how Bruce was doing as he phoned me, usually every night, to talk about his evening with the students and other topics. From these telephone calls, I was fortunate enough to become a friend of his family. I enjoyed visiting them when they had the house with the pool. He took a couple of pictures of me going down the slide at the pool and I threatened him (just teasing) that he could never show those pictures to anyone. I also visited Bruce and Lorraine at their trailer in Miami and had a great time. Then they moved to the bigger house, where again, I had the privilege of visiting Bruce and Lorraine. Bruce and Lorraine purchased a mobile home in Florida. When I was staying at my son’s in Kissimmee during the winter months, they would come to visit me. We went to places like Disney Springs and enjoyed our time together. Bruce cooked the BEST BARBEQUE SPARE RIBS that I know of. I was fortunate to be invited to many barbeques. He was fond of a dessert that I made and I always took it when invited for supper. I was privileged to enjoy the camaraderie of his family and his ‘girls’ when they were growing up and mutual friends. Unfortunately, Bruce had some medical issues later in life, which ultimately led to his untimely passing. Bruce, you were too young to be taken from us. You will be remembered by your friends, co-workers and acquaintances in Transit, Driver Education, the ‘lake’ crowd and by your family. You were one of a kind – funny – compassionate – empathetic – loving husband, father, grandfather and father-in-law. You will be missed. We will watch for your star in the heavens driving your training car. Edna Walpole - Posted by: Edna Walpole (friend) on: Dec 21, 2022

  • Dear Lorraine & Family, How sad it is to read about Bruce’s passing. The Staska’s and Butler’s go back a long way. Through out all those years there have been happy times and times of tears. May your family share the good times you had together with Bruce to ease your pain of his passing. Our thoughts and prayers are with you, take care of each other. Hugs, Fred & Janie 😘 - Posted by: Fred & Janie Butler (Friends) on: Dec 21, 2022

  • Worked with Bruce for many years at Wpg Transit. Both as a driver, and when he became a supervisor. He was a great person to work with, and he will be missed by all of us who knew him. R.I.P. Brother - Posted by: Blore Tom (Co worker) on: Dec 21, 2022
