Fleurette began life on a farm in Marchand, MB, being the eldest of five sisters as well as five brothers. Later on, she moved to Winnipeg where she met her future husband. As time went on, the family moved around. This made for a lot of stories and memories. Mom was a very good cook. She even tried cooking in mining camps. She tried her hand at driving truck with dad going long distance. Fleurette always took pride in looking her best no matter what the day brought. She enjoyed travelling with her friend Ed.
In her retirement years, she was going on cruises around the world. Through her whole life, she found great comfort with her catholic religion. May she rest in peace we'll miss you Mom!
Thanks to the staff on N2 Concordia Hospital for taking care of her in her last days.

I was blessed with an Auntie Flo Some of my fondest memories are of my Auntie Flo, I’d like to share just a few of them that made her so special to me. The biggest one was when there was when the Winnipeg River flooded one year. My Mom was visiting with us. Now Auntie didn’t know the River had flooded when she went downstairs to investigate what happened, and as she waded through the water she noticed something floating, and she reached down and picked it up to take a closer look, it was long and brown and I remember her shouting ” It’s Shit, what the hell It’s shit! My cousins were no saints and as I recall she had assumed that it was somehow related to them. She didn’t cry or carry on she did as I always observed she set to worked to correct it right away. The city gave her enough for a new washer dry set as it turns out it wasn’t my cousins fault after all. I will always admire the way she cleaned the shit that floated her way in life. Auntie Flo was a feeder and not just any old meal would do…….not just beans and wieners but potato pancakes and I still see the Easter Cake she decorated with marshmallows bunnies. She knew how to celebrate all occasions with a touch of flare. Her weekly calls to my Mom showed her dedication to family, and I know our family now has a missing warmth and strength that we called Auntie Flo. After Floreurette’s friend Ed was not able to, I had the privilege of taking her grocery shopping every other weekend. She was always proud to share what activities the various family members were up to. You will be missed my friend. - Posted by: Ken Berthiaume (Friend/neighbor) on: Jan 23, 2023

My sincere condolences go out to Darrell, Derrick and Brian on the loss of your Mom. Of all of Dad's siblings, auntie Fleurette was the one we knew best. She was a good friend to my Mom, Aline, staying with her in the trailer in Marchand, back in 1958, when Mom and Dad were first married. We visited her often in Labroquerie and, later, in Transcona. Among her many qualities, I will remember her most fondly for her sense of humour. She had a way of coming out with things that would just crack us up. She went through a lot in her life and I admired her resilience. RIP Matante Fleurette. - Posted by: Louise Lepine ((niece)) on: Jan 23, 2023

I am so sorry to hear of Auntie Fleurette's passing. I have many, many fond memories of the delicious dinners she made at Christmas, oh my goodness, her turkey dinners were incredible. I can still remember the cooking smells permeating the kitchen and its was great! That was a long time ago and I can still recall those memories. I actually babysat her kids one summer in 1966 or 67, when they lived in Transcona on Blue Heron Crescent. She and Uncle Ernie had an adventurous, sometimes challenging life, but she had strength and resilience which got her through difficult times. She had a beautiful soul and I have thought of her many, many times. Till we meet again Auntie, rest in peace. - Posted by: Rose Lepine Knabb (Niece) on: Jan 22, 2023

My condolences to the Fleurette's family. I knew Fleurette for many years, since the time her and Ernie had the compressor shop on Dufferin. She was a good friend always up for a joke or two, often at my house. A hard worker and immaculately dressed always no matter what job she was doing. Everything from working in the shop to driving the semi. I am happy that she finally was able to enjoy the fruits of her efforts that the years of work allowed her to finally take some time to enjoy life on her cruises, etc. Ever remember by her friend and her family (Hrabi/Jumaga) - Posted by: Carol Jumaga (friend) on: Jan 21, 2023
