YURIS PELE
Peacefully on January 31, 2023, at the Stonewall Hospital, Yuris passed away at the age of 72.
He will be lovingly remembered by his children Ange, Darren, Kristen, and Kristy; grandchildren, Emma, Lara, Josh, Paige, Lukas, Maddy and William; his great-grandson, Naël; and many other family members.
As per his wishes, cremation has taken place and a Celebration of Life will be held at a later date at Spruce Sands.

Yuris and I overlapped for a couple or three years at a Nova-Con. In addition to interviewing and eventually hiring me, Yuris was a patient mentor and the very model of the construction lifer. Yuris was an adept in the exacting (yet maddeningly inexact) science of gettin’er done. On time. On budget. I fondly recall long, intense hours punctuated by hearty chuckles and smoke sessions by the truck; he’d smoke, I’d fume. I particularly recall the inaugural truck ride. My first mistake was getting in. The second, once I saw him put on his drivin’ binoculars, was to ask him if he’d prefer I drive. I ran into Yuris outside a Jazzfest venue many years ago, and long after we’d both left Nova-Con. He looked relaxed and happy. We promised to get together. Never did.
