DOROTHY WILSON

Dorothy Wilson (nee Robinson) passed away peacefully on February 14, 2023, at 89 years of age.
Dorothy was born on April 12, 1933, in Winnipeg, Manitoba, the daughter of Allen and Marjorie Robinson (nee Guest). Growing up in Fort Rouge, she attended La Verendrye School and Earl Grey School. She went to Kelvin High School before entering the University of Manitoba where she earned a Bachelor of Science degree. After graduating, she lived in Montreal working at first for Sun Life, then Bell Canada. She returned to school earning a Bachelor of Library Science degree at the University of Toronto. She accepted the position of science librarian at McMaster University before returning to Winnipeg where she served as the reference librarian in the Carnegie Library on William Avenue.
Dorothy was an avid reader throughout her life. She was a member of a literary group called The Three O'clock Club and later served as its president and archivist. She developed a passion for genealogy and was a member of both the Manitoba and Ontario genealogical societies. She spent many years researching the history of the Wilson, Robinson, and Guest families. Her love of books extended into her work as a volunteer with the Children's Hospital Book Market.
Predeceased by her parents and husband Keith, she is survived by her sons, Eric and Ian, brothers, George (Ann) and James, and several cousins, nephews, and nieces.
The family would like to thank St. Boniface Hospital, Misericordia Health Centre, and Tuxedo Villa Extendicare for the care and support they provided in her later years.
In lieu of flowers, if friends so desire, donations may be made to Jocelyn House Inc., 177 Egerton Road, Winnipeg, MB R2M 2W7.
As per Dorothy's wishes, no formal service will be held.
