TAMI SCHIRLIE
It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden and unexpected passing of Tami Mia (Jakobson) Schirlie on Saturday, March 18, 2023. A true Viking spirit, Tami was called to Valhalla to spend time with the gods and to reunite with her parents, Brian and Vivienne Jakobson, her cherished aunts, Grace and Marge, her uncle Art, and her uncle Ralph with whom she shared a kindred spirit.
Cremation has taken place and a memorial service is being planned for a future date.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Icelandic Festival of Manitoba or a charity of your choice.

I'm sad to have learned of Tami's passing. I enjoyed working with her at the City of Winnipeg and liked her personality and sense of humour. She left too young, but those who knew her remember her fondly. Fly safely to the stars, Tami. đź’« - Posted by: James Carter (Colleague ) on: Jul 27, 2023

I was sad to hear of Tami's passing. I had many talks with her over the years (most of which were of the "Help" variety) and always received respectful (and very helpful) advice and wisdom no matter how goofy my request was. My sincere condolences to her family and friends. - Posted by: Dave M (Colleague) on: Apr 07, 2023

It is with happiness and a small tear in my eye that I remember my very good friend Tami. Tami was many important things to me. She was of course a co-worker for many years, a confidant, a girl with a wicked sense of humour and sharp wit, a travel buddy and my number one student (karate). I’am very proud of Tami’s accomplishments as she achieved her 1st and 2nd Degree black belts on her first attempt! She was strong, smart, articulate and a hard worker in all she did. And the laugh, oh that infectious laugh. I will think of you often Tami and remember you well. Love B. - Posted by: Brenda Dupuis Smith (Friend) on: Apr 04, 2023

My heart broke immediately when I heard the news of Tami's passing. I didn't get to know Tami as well as I would have liked but it was an honor to have worked with her. She always let me "pick her brain" on whatever questions I had and she got my "silly twisted" sense of humour. She was a pleasure to work with and will be greatly missed. From my family to yours, our deepest love, respect and condolences to you during this time. - Posted by: Hali (Co-worker) on: Mar 27, 2023

I worked with Tami for 7 years. She was a great resource and would make sure that her class understood her presentation. A wonderful lady who was kind but strong. She had a distinct chuckle. Valhalla welcomed another true Viking spirit. My sincere condolences to the friends and families. - Posted by: Dennis (CoWorker) on: Mar 27, 2023

To our dear colleague Tami, who will I call when my computer doesn’t work, my formulas don’t work, having pastry troubles on a Saturday night. We will miss the smell of burnt toast in the office every morning. We will always miss you. You were a well-respected colleague and friend to all. I know you will be making your great VĂnarterta for your family in Valhalla. Condolences to Gord and Tara (sister) and may your many memories carry you through this tough time. Until we meet again... - Posted by: Barb D'Avignon (co-worker) on: Mar 25, 2023

I had the privilege of knowing Tami as a colleague. While we didn't work in the same office, our jobs often meant that we communicated with one another. Never once was Tami anything but pleasant, knowledgeable and friendly. I hope that her family and all whose hearts are burden with missing her will be comforted by knowing how well respected she was and that soon, smiles will replace their tears when they think of her. - Posted by: Catherine Gagnon (Colleague) on: Mar 25, 2023

Tami was always a very kind person. Whenever I needed to discuss a project with her, I could count on her being there to help with a smile and warmth. I'm very saddened to hear of her passing so young. - Posted by: Jerritt (CoWorker) on: Mar 25, 2023
