Peacefully, in the early morning of April 4, Debby Perrin (née Thorarinson), passed away in the presence of loved ones at age 65.
Debby leaves behind daughter Meghan; grandsons, Kaiden and Koltyn; sister Marianne Boyer (Gordon); sister-in-law Loni Waterman, and her loving extended family of brothers and sisters-in-law, nephews, nieces, cousins and friends.
She joins in heaven her daughter Melissa; sisters, Sharon Fox and Maureen Goertzen; brother Dennis Zarvie; mother Eileen Zarvie and grandparents, Arni and Anna Thorarinson.
Debby spent much of her early years on her grandparents' farm near Walkleyburg, Manitoba. After graduation from the Lord Selkirk Regional Comprehensive Secondary School, she studied nursing. She spent her working career as a psych nurse at the Selkirk Mental Health Centre. After retirement, Debby worked as an instructor at CDI College; she particularly enjoyed working with the next generation of nurses in clinical training.
Family was the most important thing in Debby's life; she was fiercely devoted to her grandchildren, who knew her as mama. Debby was renowned for her Ukrainian dishes: perogies, perishke and holopchi. She was also a big sports fan, having a share in Jets seasons tickets, and enjoyed watching hockey and curling on TV.
Though small in stature, Debby had the heart of a lion. The latter part of her life presented various health challenges, all of which she faced with stoic determination.
In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Winnipeg Jets Hockey Academy, or a charity of your choice.
Love you to the moon and back, Debby, till we meet again.
A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, April 11, 2023 at 1:00 p.m. in the Gilbart Funeral Chapel, Selkirk, MB.

Debby & I grew up together, just across the corner from each other. We went to Brightstar School together. We were the same age and had the same first name. The kids used to kid us about our similarities. As we grew into teenagers, we went our separate ways and to different high schools. We Thank Debby for her career choice - it was a good one. Rest in Peace Debby, and you are with many of your family. Hugs - Debbie B.K. - Posted by: Debbie Kashuba (Bretchka) (neighbor, school friend) on: Apr 08, 2023
