LEONARD GEORGE ARTHUR RAILTON
Leonard George Arthur Railton passed away on April 26, 2023, at the age of 51 years old after a hard fought battle with ALS.
Beloved son of Leonard A.K. (late of 2010) and mom Carole Railton. Predeceased by grandparents A.K. and Frances Railton, George and Kristine Stamm, Norm, and Betty (Lee) Burzuik.
Survived by sister Donna Campbell, her husband Cory and their children Valerie and Cameron whom Len adored. Len is also survived by the best uncles, aunts, cousins, great neighbours, and his "Conc" family, his work mates.
His job as a Health Care Aide for almost 30 years was a perfect fit for him. When Len had days off, he enjoyed yard work, gardening, and maintaining a koi pond. He would spend time at his sister and brother-in-law's cabin and with the family at Lake Winnipeg. He went camping at Banff, and once took a trip to see the Stanley Cup. Len lived his life to the fullest through showing kindness and helpfulness to others.
Many thanks to Adult Emergency HSC and the caring, thorough, remarkable staff at the MICU of HSC. Thanks to Doctors Marcus Blouw, Shawn Thomas, Andrew Dyck for guiding Len and family. Thanks 7th floor staff at Deer Lodge and especially Riverview Health Centre where Len lived this past year. Riverview was so accommodating to Len and his family in every way.
Our sincere thanks to St. Clements Fire Dept. for holding a pancake breakfast fundraiser for ALS. To Angela at ALS for her help, support and providing equipment as needed. To Concordia coworkers for support with fundraising for a GoFundMe start up that provided additional support. This helped purchase equipment, medications, devices, transportation, supplies and a needed ramp built at our house by Josh G., his wife and family in one long day.
Len had a "Live" funeral in 2021 when covid was amongst us. Mawejje of St. Clements kindly officiated. Cremation will take place according to Len's wishes with his ashes spread where Len has specified.
Len lived a quiet, full, purposeful life and we're glad we were part of it.
Condolences may be left on his tribute wall at www.gilbartfuneralhome.com

You can remember me and only that I've gone,
or you can cherish my memory and let it live on.
You can shed tears that I am gone,
Or you can smile because I lived.

Condolences & Memories (1 entries)

My deepest condolences to Carol and extended family. I met Len at Deer Lodge. Len was exceptionally kind and thoughtful and he and my mom his neighbour on the same unit became fast friends (so did we). Len chose to become a voice and eyes for my mom which, he will never know how very eternally grateful and appreciative my mom and I were. His kindness and generosity was infectious just like his grin. Len and my mom bonded so quickly and became a dynamic duo complete with mischief. They would share stories, laughs, meals, snacks, treats and delicious desserts and put up a stink if need be, they had fun. Well Len I will miss you my friend, but I will smile every time I think of you as you left us on April 26th and that my friend would have been moms 90th birthday. Hope she shared her heavenly cake 🥰 So you soar with those angels Len until we meet again. Your friend Beth - Posted by: Beth Mcivor (Friend) on: May 08, 2023
