LILLIAN JANE NELSON

(nee MCDONALD)

February 25, 1948 - May 1, 2023

It is with the heaviest of hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. Lillian passed on May 1, 2023 aged 75, after a brief but courageous battle with lung cancer.

She was predeceased by her parents John Henry (Harry) and Helen McDonald, and daughter Donna Nelson.

She will be lovingly remembered by husband Brian Nelson, son Clifford “Jim” Nelson, daughter Debra (Donald Balcaen), sisters Helen Mondor, and Shirley McDonald, brother Wayne McDonald, and grandsons Zackary, Thomas, Joseph and Alexandre. She will also be missed by numerous cousins, nephews, nieces, and friends.

Lillian was born in Winnipeg, Manitoba. She grew up in St Boniface and attended King George V Elementary and Nelson McIntyre Collegiate.

Lillian and Brian were teenage sweethearts who married in 1964, and settled in Elmwood to raise their three children, Clifford “Jim”, Donna, and Debra.

Lillian was a hardworking woman, who worked many different jobs, but the ones she was most passionate about were that of mother and grandmother. Mom loved to laugh, loved her family and was adored in return. She also loved the fur babies, including her dog Ollie, and her fur “grandkids” Fergus and Finley.

A heartfelt and sincere thank you to cancer care for their compassionate care, and to the many angels on earth who helped in ways big and small.

Celebration of Life will be on May 24, 2023 at 2:00 p.m., at Thompson “In the Park” Funeral Home, 1291 McGillivray Blvd in Winnipeg.

In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in honour of Lillian, to CancerCare of Manitoba.
