It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Frank Crooks, age 96, at Hillcrest Place, Brandon MB on Thursday, May 25, 2023.
Frank was born January 24, 1927 in Glenarm Larne, Northern Ireland to James and Annie Crooks.
On April 2, 1958, he married the love of his life, Ellen Cameron, and the week after they began their journey to Canada. They travelled by ship to Quebec and then by train to Brandon. Brandon was where they settled their roots and raised a family. Katherine arrived in 1960, Cameron in 1962, and Jeff in 1967.
When they arrived in Canada, Frank’s first job was at the Brandon Mental Health Hospital, then MacArthur Trucking, Hamilton Jones, Keystone Livestock and Surge. Frank’s final job taken on in retirement was F&E Construction.
Frank was predeceased by his father and mother, James and Annie and brothers Charlie, John, Danny, and James.
Frank is survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Ellen Crooks; daughter, Katherine (Leonard) Kenler; sons, Cameron (Cathy) Crooks and Jeff (Ivale) Crooks; two sisters, Anna McLure and Evelyn Manning, and one brother, Albert (Noreen) Crooks, all who reside in Northern Ireland; grandchildren, Jennifer Kenler (Evan Gouldie), Danielle Kenler, Nikki (Dustin) Kaban, Alyssa Crooks (Bryce Hoeppner), Kaitlyn (Nicholas) Pietracupa and Erik Crooks; two great-grandchildren that made his eyes light up with joy, Alex and Rowan Gouldie.
A private graveside service was held Monday June 5, 2023 at Rosewood Memorial Gardens, officiated by Kim Lewarne.

We would like to thank all the healthcare staff at Hillcrest Place for the care Frank received over the past three and a half years.
Rest well on your journey, Pops/Papa, you worked hard throughout your life, rest easy.
