THERESA WHITE

(nee MEYER)

Theresa "Terry" White (nee Meyer) - it is with great sadness that the family announces the passing of our mother, grandma, sister, and friend on May 27, 2023, at the age of 87, due to Alzheimer’s Dementia.

Left with cherished memories are her children, Roger, Catherine (David) Juskow, Kenneth (Brenda), Dennis (Sharon), grandchildren, Shawn Juskow, Sheryl (Darrin) Bohonis, Ryan Juskow, Ian White, and great-grandchildren, Aidan and Kaitlyn Bohonis; sisters, Gloria Benoit, Joyce (Frank) Agostino, Ollie Zirk, brother Edward (Beverley); numerous nephews, nieces and cousins including Margie (Cliff) Boulet, along with her many friends made over the years.

Terry was born in Meleb, MB in 1935, and is the second eldest of seven siblings, Mary, Katie, Gloria, Joyce, Olga, and Edward. She was predeceased by Maksym (Max) Budniak and Anna (Annie) Krasey, parents, Peter Meyer, Kate Budnyk (Budniak), sisters, Mary (Stan) King, Katie (Glen) Tocher, and brother-in-law Clarence Zirk.

After running a small farm, Terry's parents moved the family to Winnipeg in 1944. Terry's mother became ill and could no longer take care of her family, which was a great loss to her and her siblings. Terry received a grade eight education and worked as a nanny for the Goldman family.

Terry met Elvin White at the roller rink on Portage Avenue, and they married in 1954. They moved to Pointe du Bois in 1956 with first born son Roger. Cathy, Ken, and Dennis followed. They lived in Pointe for 20 years, where they raised their children. Terry formed relationships with some residents that continued for her lifetime.

Over the ensuing years Terry worked as a waitress at the Camelot Restaurant, frequented by Free Press staff. She cleaned suites for Manitoba Housing and waitressed for the St. Regis Hotel, Eaton’s Grill Room, working part time at both the Imperial Vets Legion and Fort Rouge Legion, retiring in 2001.

Terry was a fiery little redhead who loved to dance, chat, and make people smile. She was a great cook and family loved her meat buns, was a bargain hunter and very generous in nature. She was known in the family as "the paparazzi," and at family gatherings always had a camera in her hand.

A special thank-you to Samantha from the Alzheimer Society, Leigh Ann and staff at Residence Despins, and Erlinda and staff at Concordia Place for their support and care. Donations may be made to the Alzheimer Society in Terry's memory.

Cremation has taken place and a Celebration of Life will be held on June 20, 2023, at 2:00 p.m. in the banquet hall basement at Royal Canadian Legion Branch, 215 Maxwell King Dr., East St. Paul, North perimeter and Henderson Highway.
