It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Carolyn at the Gimli Community Health Centre, with her family by her side, after a courageous battle with cancer.
She will be deeply missed and forever cherished by her daughters, Diane (Cal Schleining), Tammy (Nick Paul), and Teresa (Geoff Wingfield); her grandchildren, Corey, Lucas, Laith and London; sister Vivian Anderson, brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Dave (Lynn) and John (Sonja); Donna (Tomas Lloyd), Shirley Pommer and many nieces and nephews.
Predeceased by her husband of 58 years and love of her life, Alex; her brothers and sisters-in-law, Alfred (Joanne), Vern (June), Lawrence (Moria), Jerry and William and brother-in-law James Anderson.
Carol was born in Winnipeg, grew up in the Weston area with her five brothers and younger sister. She met Alex and married in 1963, they moved to Elmwood, then to Birds Hill in 1972 raising their family of three girls. Carol was fun, passionate about life, loved to entertain family, friends and the neighbourhood kids that wanted to swim on a hot summer day!
Carol enjoyed curling in the Ladies and mixed league at East St. Paul for many years. She was very competitive at cards, crib and board games. She also loved to sew, designing matching outfits for her young daughters and their Cabbage Patch Kids and barbies.
When Carol retired from bus driving at RESD in 1996, they built a home on Sandy Hook golf course. Since Alex was an avid golfer, Carol decided to take up golf, in which she thoroughly enjoyed (especially Thursdays Ladies) and often golfing five days a week. During the winters, they spent time travelling to Texas, the Carolina's and Palm Springs enjoying shopping, happy hours and golf in the company of friends and family.
Dad’s unexpected passing two years ago, deeply broke Mom’s heart.
We feel some peace in knowing that they are together forever, once again.
Mom and Dad you will never be forgotten and in our thoughts everyday. We Thank you both for the love, laughs but most importantly the wonderful memories you left us to cherish.
The family would like to send sincere gratitude to the staff at the Gimli Community Health Centre for their care and compassion to Mom over the past two months.
A Celebration of Life for both Carol and Alex will be held at Selkirk Golf & Country Club, 100 Sutherland Ave., Selkirk, MB at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, June 23, 2023.
