“Her laugh, her smile, her welcoming ways, that’s our Dianna”
Our dear mother, wife, grandmother, sister, auntie, friend and neighbor, Dianna Lynn Murray, passed away Sunday, July 2nd, 2023, at the Brandon Regional Health Centre.
Dianna was born February 10, 1949, to her parents Marian and Perry Loucks. She was predeceased by her parents as well as older brothers Barry and Bryan Loucks, and father-in-law Keith (Tuck) Murray.
Dianna is survived by her loving husband Carey, daughter Jenny (Scott), granddaughter Tabitha, son Christopher (Melanie), and grandsons Dylan and Lucas. She is also survived by her mother-in-law Reta Murray of Melita, younger brother Brent (Penney) of Saskatoon, sisters-in-law Donna Loucks of Tuscon, Arizona, and Isabella Loucks of Brooks, Alberta, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Dianna grew up in Pierson and took up nursing, working briefly in Brandon before returning home to work in the Co-op grocery store.
Dianna and Carey were married in 1971 and resided for a short time in Lyleton before moving to their farm home just down the road from Carey’s family farm. Their family thrived on the farm and in the community of Lyleton and surrounding area. While Carey did the farming, Dianna often worked in Melba’s store and post office in Lyleton.
Di had learned piano at an early age, and she took great joy when playing organ at church in Pierson and Lyleton. She enjoyed a good game of cards, especially Sequence, and with her little brother as partner she rarely lost. Di enjoyed reading her favourite books, sewing, painting, gardening, and the occasional casino visit.
When Carey developed heart issues, they moved to Winnipeg in 2016, then to Brandon in 2019. Dianna’s health began to deteriorate, and she had numerous stays at the Brandon hospital. She spent her final days at the Assiniboine Centre.
Carey and the family wish to thank the staff at the Assiniboine for the amazing care and attention Dianna received while there.
