DOUGLAS CHARLES PETTYPIECE

1950 - 2023

Douglas "Doug" Charles Pettypiece passed away with family by his side at the Brandon Regional Health Center on June 29, 2023 at the age of 72 years.

Doug was born in Boissevain, MB on July 6th, 1950. He had a fulfilling career in the agriculture business as a Grain Buyer and was employed with United Grain Growers, Boissevain, and Parrish & Heimbecker, Boissevain, and managed a grain terminal for Paterson Grain in Binscarth, Manitoba. During his retirement he chose to work casually with Parrish & Heimbecker, moving and loading grain cars to keep busy. He was a proud member of the Boissevain Legion, and Freemasons Manitoba. He loved to golf, curl, and always enjoyed time spent with friends and family.

Doug and Lynda thoroughly enjoyed travelling south for the winters prior to Lynda's passing in 2019. Doug also liked to live on the wild side on occasion, and would brag about his loop and barrel rolls in his private plane when he had his pilot's license. He also loved to hit the highway on his motorcycle, and even purchased a Spyder Roadster, which he enjoyed over the last few summers.

Doug will be lovingly remembered by his family and friends. In accordance with Doug's wishes, a funeral service will not be held. A celebration of Doug's life will be held at a later date, and a private interment will follow at the Boissevain Cemetery, where he will be laid to rest with his beloved wife and best friend, Lynda, who predeceased him.

Condolences & Memories (2 entries)

  • So I went to school with Doug in the late 60's in Boissevain. About 5 years ago Doug and I got together and started golfing with Doug and we really enjoyed our time together. This was quite a shock as I saw Doug about a week or 2 before he passed and he was looking really good. Condolences to all of Doug's family and friends. He will always be in my prayers and thoughts. - Posted by: Chuck Dalgliesh (Friend and school mate) on: Jul 14, 2023

  • I was very glad to reconnect with Doug the last few years! We were able to enjoy curling and hockey games via Messenger, as well as some of his train trips. We also got to visit in Winnipeg when he took a course there and several times at Hardys’ in Brandon. I am so sorry he became ill and left us too soon. - Posted by: Nancy Gates (Friend from home (Boissevain)) on: Jul 08, 2023
