I just stumbled across this obit in my occasional, “whatever happened to…” questions. I do not recognize the image on this obit only because the man who was, Mr Cox, to me was a young man, recent immigrated from Trinidad, working in a country school in 1966 and I was one of his grade 8 students. He would have been the first black man I encountered up close who would be part of my life for one whole year. I was mesmerized by his accent, his foreignness, his stature, the heavy gold chain around his wrist he continuously fiddled with and especially his kindness. I wish I could have known him as an adult. By the tributes I’ve read he was a beloved, remarkable man. He certainly made a positive impression on a sad orphaned girl. Thank you, Mr Cox. - Posted by: Lee Toews (Former student) on: Jul 14, 2025

Every time I think of Terry Adolphus Cox I cannot help but smile. Terry was funny, especially when he pretended to be stern then would break into a broad grin. I liked to tease him about his middle name. Terry and Jean were always welcoming whether in their home on River Avenue or in The Maples. Terry had a great sense of humour and he was always available to offer help. Those Saturday evenings after cricket in the park were always special. Most of all though, Terry was dedicated to his family. He also loved his siblings and I recall the grief he expressed on the passing of his brother, Leon. I'm very sorry that circumstances did not allow us to attend the celebration of his life. Our deep condolences to Jean, an angel in her own right, his children and grandchildren and his beloved sister, Brenda. - Posted by: Vijay Soondarsingh (Friend) on: Jul 14, 2023

Uncle Terry was very instrumental to me in the manner in which I conducted my life as a young man. I am very proud to have had the privilege to knowing this man and to be loved by him and his family. My mother Lena (96 years old)is his eldest cousin and I will like to say how much she loved him. Good bye Uncle Terry. I learnt from you how important family is. - Posted by: Dominic Terry Philip (God son) on: Jul 08, 2023
