Peacefully at home, just as she would have wanted, Emma Recek passed away July 2, 2023.
Left to remember her with wonderful memories and much love are her daughter Irena (Derrick) and her grandchildren, Clare and Cameron. She was predeceased by her beloved husband Tony in 2020.
Emma was born September 29, 1937, in Slovenia and in 1958 she immigrated with her husband for a new and prosperous life. Emma worked as a seamstress until retirement but her biggest and most important role was that of mother and grandmother. She will be fondly remembered as a great cook and baker and a caregiver who always made sure her family was well looked after.
Emma took pride in her home, her garden and entertaining people. Those who visited her home, her neighbours and family, were always gifted with food, vegetables and kindness. She was always willing to lend a hand and the word NO was never in her vocabulary.
It is very difficult to sum up one’s life and the impact they have left on you; Mom was just the right mix of kindness and selflessness and she managed to stay true to her independence right till the very end. She loved her grandchildren unconditionally and they have been gifted with memories and love that will carry them through the rest of their lives. Emma lived life simply, she was provided with joy simply by spending endless hours with her grandchildren, cooking for her family and volunteering her time when requested.
Rest in peace Mom, we are comforted that you are reunited with dad. Not a day will go by without us smiling and sharing all the memories we have of you. The four of us, will carry you in our lives forever.
No formal service will take place. Mom will be laid to rest with her husband at Glen Eden Memorial Gardens.
