In memory of the life and enduring spirit of Dr. Clarita Santos Vianzon, who passed away on July 24, 2023, at the age of 84.
Clarita is greatly missed by her two daughters Claudalle (John) and Lily, grandson Justin (Stephanie), granddaughter Janessa (Daniel), Elisa Santos (sister-in-law), Zenaida Vianzon (sister-in-law), Alfred Vianzon (brother-in law, Lourdes), Teresita Mangalimam (sister-in law), and Odete Lopes. Clarita was predeceased by her loving husband Romeo (Romy) and her cherished son Nelson. She is reunited once again in Heaven with them. Clarita was also predeceased by her only sibling, Renato Santos. She has left behind many loved nieces and nephews: Jean, Carrie, Rommel, Lynne, Rina, Ronald, Edgar, Marie, Myla, Millette, Mark, Jazmin, Jun, Jay, Rosabelle, Frankie, and Rosemarie.
Clarita received her education at Manila Central University, Philippines, in 1957 and graduated as a physician in 1964. Her longtime schoolmate and best friend Ofelia Borlongan was always by her side. She soon married Romeo and fulfilled their dream to immigrate to Canada in 1965. In 1966, Clarita gave birth to her first child, Claudalle Michelle, followed by Lily Maylin, and then her son, Nelson Charles. She practiced in Red Deer, Alberta, Regina, Saskatchewan and then finally settled in Manitoba. Clarita practiced at the Health Sciences Centre, Winnipeg, as an anesthetist. She joined the Manitoba Developmental Centre, Portage La Prairie, in 1975 and was employed there for close to 30 years. Clarita started a new career in private practice where she retired.
Everlasting friends were made over the years. She will be deeply missed by her close friends, Drs. Ligaya and Ernie, Dali, Lena, Tony, Jun and Dra. Ofi, Lorette and Ging, and Deli. She also had a dear neighbour, friend, and confidant, Cas Rodriguese. Her life devotion was to her grandkids Justin and Janessa, as they were her pride and joy. She was their Lola and always motivated them to achieve their very best. Clarita will always be remembered by her loving and caring nature. Her family was her utmost priority.
She enjoyed gardening, going to the lake in Lac Du Bonnet, taking care of her pets, visiting her friends, traveling to explore other countries, and meeting new people.
The family would like to express their appreciation to Riverview Health Centre (4 East), Priority Home Services, Linden Pointe Courtyards, and West Park Manor (1 East) for their services.
Lamay (Viewing) will be held at Neil Bardal Funeral Centre 3030 Notre Dame Avenue, Winnipeg, on Friday, July 28th, 2023, from 6:00 p.m. – 10:00 p.m. Prayers will begin at 7:00 p.m. Monsignor Como will be officiating. Mass will take place on Saturday, July 29th at 10:00 a.m. at St Paul’s The Apostle Church, 2400 Portage Avenue, Winnipeg, Father Eric Giddins will be officiating. Burial will follow the mass at the Assumption Cemetery, 3990 Portage Avenue, Winnipeg.

Dear family of Dr Clarita. Only God can console all of you, during this very hard time, of saying good bye, to your loved one Dr Clarita. I was very blessed to have shared with her, a few travelling experiences, over the years, she was the perfect roommate, always happy, we laughed a lot, all was always perfect for her, it was my great pleasure to have her join me in discovering the World. I am going to miss her, and I hope that one day, I will meet my dear friend again, when I also depart to the next life. May God have you, my dear Dr. Clarita, resting in peace in heaven.
