Condolences & Memories (3 entries)

  • Aunt Alice was indeed one strong one of a kind woman. From growing up in Sudbury, Ont and then off to the Runnymede, Sask country with Uncle Jack, they started a life of hard work and sacrifice. A very humble and caring lady with a heart of gold and a wit that could spin you where you stood, she always cared so much. I visited as often as I could as a young boy and later when I hit the double digit ages I spent summers there doing all kinds of memorable things and making friend with the kids and families all around. Auntie always gave more than she would expect back and she loved all her family dearly. Through the challenges l, struggles and pain she did find and make time for her dearest of friends. When she moved to Tuelon, she left behind a life and area that defined her. We shared many letters over the years, all of which I still have and treasure. Phone calls and as technology changed, video calls too! I travelled to Tuelon for her birthdays since she had turned 95 and shared so many great memories and laughed at each other with our little digs at each other. Most of all....she did remember the days gone by and even as we visited on her 101st birthday this year, she spoke of her childhood and friends. No doubt Aunt Alice missed the days gone by. She meant the world to me and I loved her with all my heart and will for the rest of my life! Thanks to the kindness of Joe and Jan extended each time I spent the days when I came to visit. Auntie loved them so much and all her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Though the years changed much in everyone, Aunt Alice remained true to her heart and when I said my farewell this year and told her I loved her she replied as always....Love you more.... Thank you to everyone who provided such wonderful care and friendship to Auntie during her years in Tuelon. With her wings and beside those who went before her, she is smiling down on us all. I love you Auntie and so wish I could hear you say just one more time...I love you more..... Your Nephew Warren Pister Medicine Hat, Ab. - Posted by: Warren Pister (Nephew) on: Aug 01, 2023

  • We have been very close friends of Alice (fondly called Gram) for at least 10 years and have many happy memories of this very special lady. Alice has a son Ross who resides in Edmonton and has been battling terminal cancer. Ross has 2 sons Derrick and Kevin and daughter Caitlin and 7 grandchildren. Ross and his mom were very close and he came to visit from Edmonton as often as possible and was there for her on her 100th birthday. Her grandson Joseph and his wife Jan were always there for her and she looked forward to their frequent visits often with her 2 great great grandsons. She was one in a million and we'll miss her but know she was ready to join her husband and son who preceded her in death. • Shall never forget Alice's kindness and friendliness when I first attended St. Cyprian's Anglican Church. I knew no one there and she made me feel most welcome. My regrets...life happenings got in the way and I lost touch with her the last few years. Have many warm memories of her. My condolences to her family.
