ALAN WILFRED VOSS

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Alan who left us on July 22, 2023.

Alan was predeceased by his grandparents Otto and Olga Voss, his father Clarence Voss and his mother Lily Voss.

Alan’s legacy will live on through his wife and soulmate, Paddy; his children: Brandyn (Darcee), Dale, and Natasha; and his grandchildren: Colton and Luxtyn, Wyatt, and Maycee. He is also survived by his sisters: Darlene Barrett (Gordie), Joanne Peacock (Ken) and brother Rick (Tina), along with many nieces, nephews, and friends.

Alan was born on September 29, 1958, in Beausejour, Manitoba where he was raised and educated. In 1982, Alan married his soulmate Paddy. Together they built a beautiful life centered around family. Alan worked for the City of Winnipeg from 1983 until his much deserved retirement in 2015. After his retirement, Alan drove a truck part time, for something to do when he wasn’t at his trailer.

Alan loved his yearly hunting trip with his friends and family. He would plan and pack and unpack for a week until he was sure he didn’t forget a single item.

Alan was very involved in the community when his children were growing up. He sat on many youth athletic boards and community centre boards. Alan was very involved in coaching youth sports as well, coaching his oldest son in hockey and his younger son in baseball. One of his proudest days was when his daughter came into his life – Daddys and their little girls! Alan loved and was truly proud of all his children, but the true loves of his life were his grandchildren. He would pack them up and take them off to the trailer with him to spend a few days as soon as they could walk. Although he had a close relationship with all of his grandkids, he spent the most time with his eldest grandson, Colton. They did everything together from the time Colton could walk, even taking him to work with him on many occasions.

Alan had a heart filled with kindness, compassion, and love. His presence in our lives will be deeply missed, but his memory will be in our hearts forever. Rest easy my love.

The family would like to thank the Doctors and Nurses at St. Boniface ICU Ward for the outstanding care given to Alan in his final days.

Memorial donations in Alan’s memory may be made to the Make A Wish Foundation, 350 St. Mary’s Avenue, Winnipeg, MB R3C 3J2.

Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 5 at Green Acres Funeral Home, Hwy. #1 East at Navin Road, Winnipeg. Please dress casual and bring a lawn chair for the outdoor reception.

  • Oh my. Paddy, Brandyn, Dale & Naddy, I am shocked to read the passing of Al. Truly a wonderful caring dedicated husband father & grandfather. My best memories are of Al & the baseball teams; especially provincials in Neepawa. I sat along side Al on community centre & Association boards. Truly a beautiful person. I was blessed to have known him. Hugs & Prayers. - Posted by: Roxanna Fenning (Friend) on: Jul 29, 2023
