LINDA ZAZULINSKI

August 2, 1952 – July 23, 2023

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the sudden passing of Linda Zazulinski at her home in Gimli, Manitoba on July 23, 2023, at the age of 70.

She leaves to cherish her memory, her daughter Sheri (Kevin Pemkowski) and grandchildren, Ryan (Chantal) and Emily. She is survived by sisters, Mary Gzegotski, Nancy (Ed Ratz) and brother Mike Olyarnick; sisters-in-law, Anne Senga, Connie (Roman Szczerba), Debbie (Jerry Hayduk) and Elise Zazulinski, as well as many cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.

Linda was predeceased by her husband Peter, parents Nick and Teenie Olyarnick, in-laws John and Pauline Zazulinski, sisters-in-law, Irene Zazulinski, Mary Siatecki and Dolores Olyarnick; and brothers-in-law, Philip Gzegotski, Gordie and Mike Zazulinski, John Siatecki, and Mike Senga.

Linda was born on August 2, 1952, in Gimli. She was the youngest of four children. Mary and Mike were quite a bit older, so she basically grew up with her sister Nancy. Whenever together, they loved to tell stories (and blame each other) for their adventures growing up on the farm. Linda went to Willow Creek School for several years, which was almost a two-mile walk – and of course it was “uphill both ways!” She spent the rest of her education at Gimli Public School and Gimli High School where she met the Harley-riding love of her life, Peter. They were married on May 8, 1971.

Her only child, Sheri, was born soon after and Linda was a stay-at-home mom for many years. She sold Avon and dragged Sheri, as a toddler, around to her customers’ homes to deliver orders. She worked for a few years as a clerk at Gimli IGA and then at Shorepointe Village as the office manager. Linda was involved in the running of the Dennis Lake Wildlife Association and was treasurer of the St. Michael’s Ukrainian Catholic Church for many years. Linda had many hobbies over the years including reading, ceramics, cross-stitching, bowling, baking delicious cheesecakes, fishing, gardening, as well as returning to selling Avon for the last 20 years.

Linda’s biggest joy was her beloved grandchildren, Ryan and Emily, and she spent lots of time babysitting them when they were younger. She was extremely proud of them and their accomplishments as they grew up, and she cherished their visits so she could hear what they were up to. She was very grateful to her son-in-law, Kevin, for doing many jobs around the house and renovations, which allowed her to stay in her home until her passing.

Cremation has taken place and service will be held on August 3, at 11:00 a.m. at Fraserwood Hall. Burial to follow at St. Michael’s Ukrainian Catholic Church Cemetery.

We would like to thank Mom’s neighbour, Lori for calling 911 and the paramedics for trying so hard to save Mom.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. Michael’s Ukrainian Catholic Church, Box 2083, Gimli, MB, ROC 1B0, or Diabetes Canada.

Condolences may be left on her tribute wall at www.gilbartfuneralhome.com

Gilbart Funeral Home, Gimli in care of arrangements.
