SUSAN SHALLCROSS

September 14, 1945 - July 27, 2023

Susan Shallcross (nee Brelsford) passed peacefully in the afternoon of July 27, 2023. We are comforted knowing that she is reunited with her loving husband, George Shallcross, in heaven and has found peace.

Susan was predeceased by her parents, Kenneth and Clare, husband George, and son-in-law Eric Krohn.

Left to treasure her memory are children, Robert, Andrew (Holly), Mary, Miranda, Chantel, and Aaliyah; and beloved granddaughter Adalyn.

The family would like to thank Dr. Daniel Frimpong for his kindness over the years. They would also like to thank Rosewood Home and St. Norbert Personal Care Home for both taking care of Mum for the last two years. The Whyte Ridge Baptist Church, Pastor Kevin Klassen, and Pastor Doug Friesen always had a special place in Susan’s heart and for that the family thanks them.

In accordance with Susan’s wishes, no funeral service will be held.

The family encourages donations be made to Circle of Hearts Family Support Network or Alzheimer Society of Manitoba in Susan’s memory.

Condolences & Memories (5 entries)

  • Susan was a good friend. She was an incredible caregiver to anyone who needed it, an incredible advocate for her children and a bastion of truth as a patient advocate in a very complicated medical system. She always made me laugh with her British accent and her sarcastic wit. She made a great cup of tea and always treated me to a frozen peanut butter ball from M&M's to go along with it! Sending my condolences to all her children and granddaughter, whom she loved so very dearly. - Posted by: Yvonne Reimer (Friend) on: Sep 13, 2023

  • Susan was a true advocate for better health care and it was her work that led to our meeting during the years leading up and through the pediatric cardiac inquest in the 1990s. I was reporting the story as the medical reporter for the Free Press and Susan taught me so much about how important parent’s roles are to their kids’ health care. I swear that she knew just about everyone in the system here and abroad, doctors, nurses, administrators and directors alike. She was fierce, a real warrior and very well informed. There was nothing she won’t do for her daughter Mary and her well-being. I know she missed George dreadfully when he passed so I imagine she’s overjoyed to be with him again. My condolences to the family. I feel privileged to have known Susan. - Posted by: Alexandra Paul (friend) on: Aug 15, 2023

  • To say Susan was unique & quirky is an understatement!! I met her many years ago..back in the 80's & we bonded over kids... She was beyond Patient & Loving to all the kids she took under her wing... She TRULY was an amazing Mom & she & George were most definitely the salt of the earth! They are together again now...like two peas in a pod, as they always were here on earth. My Deepest Sympathy to ALL.. With Love & Understanding, Carol - Posted by: Carol (Friend from back in the day...) on: Aug 01, 2023
