DIANE PATRICIA MCCLAIN

(nee JOSS)

February 15, 1951 - July 29, 2023

Sadly, Diane passed away at the age of 72 after a difficult battle with cancer.

Diane was born in Winnipeg, Manitoba to Wilma and Jim Joss. She was a self-proclaimed army brat and had fond memories of growing up, making friends and playing with her six siblings and cousins wherever the military took them.

Diane was predeceased by her siblings, Jim and Kathy; and her parents, Wilma and Jim.

Diane was a loving wife, mother, grandma and great-grandma. She was also an aunt to many nieces and nephews.

In 2022, Diane lost the love of her life, Richard, to a stroke. He was ill for many years and she was always by his side, taking care of him until he passed.

Diane and Richard had been married for 44 years and loved each other “to the moon and back”. They had many good times, struggles and adventures over the years. Diane loved sharing stories of their life experiences together and about the people they met along the way. Not long after they met, Richard joined the family with Diane’s three children. Later in life, Diane and Richard cared for two of their granddaughters, Corinna and Sydney and they later adopted Sydney.

Diane took care of her family all of her life. When she did have time for herself, she loved to paint and draw. She loved being a homemaker, trips to the library with Richard and they shared the love of their faith. Diane cherished her daily bible studies.

Diane was a very kind and social person and loved to visit with her friends and family. She always enjoyed her visits with the many babies and little ones in her life. She was lovingly nicknamed “orange grandma” because of an orange dress she loved to wear.

Diane was survived by her children, Joe (Linda), Tina, Kim (Pat), and Sydney.

She is survived by her siblings, Bill (Chris), Linda (Greg), Judy (Wayne), Joann (Brian); and her brother-in-law Ron ; and many nieces and nephews.

She is also survived by her grandchildren, Corinna, Ali (Andrew), Rebecca (Jesse), Frankie (Lea), Hannah (Nick), Ricky (Ashley), Zachary (Leslie); and several great-grandchildren.

The family would like to share their sincere gratitude to the doctors and especially the nurses and palliative care team at HSC Women's Hospital Floor 5, for caring for Diane with kindness, compassion and respect in her final days.

The family would like to think that Richard and Diane are together again, best friends and great loves, who are now rejoicing with their other family members previously passed.

Diane will be greatly missed, never forgotten.

Cremation has taken place. Family will share a private moment at a later date.
