SYLVIA MAY ROBERTS

Sylvia May Roberts (née Templeton), born April 14, 1935 in MacGregor, Manitoba and recently residing in Fairview Personal Care Home in Brandon, Manitoba passed away peacefully on Saturday, August 12, 2023. Sylvia was the daughter of Gertrude Elizabeth Lucy Prosser and William Elmer Templeton. She is lovingly remembered by her son Steve Roberts (Alice) and daughter Cheryl Lawrie (Colin); her grandchildren Ryan (Jordan) Roberts, Caitlin (Tyrone) Krawetz , Craig Lawrie, and Annika Lawrie; her brother Jeff Templeton (Noreen); sister Beth Halladay (Hugh) as well as numerous nieces, nephews and friends. She was predeceased by her sister Elsie Stanley (Ken).



Sylvia was raised on a farm in rural Austin, Manitoba and moved to Winnipeg for her first job at Great West Life. She was married to Thomas Herbert Roberts on June 15, 1957 and after having their children they settled on a farm west of Portage la Prairie, where she resided until she returned to Winnipeg. She worked at Mall Medical for many years before moving to Brandon to be closer to her family.



Throughout her life, she enjoyed golfing, baseball, the Blue Jays, and painting. In her later years, she spent a lot of time on her artwork, and her numerous paintings are lovingly displayed by family members. She loved to laugh and had a real sense of humour. Sylvia volunteered her time to a variety of causes throughout her life. Nature held a special place in her heart and Sylvia spent many hours appreciating the flower gardens at the Daly House Museum and Knox United Church. Special thanks to the Fairview Personal Care Home personnel and Noreen and Jeff Templeton for their loving care and support of our Mom. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Sylvia may be made to the Daly Museum, 122 18th St, Brandon, MB R7A 5A5.



A Funeral Service will be held at Brockie Donovan Chapel, 332 8th Street, Brandon, on Saturday, August 19, 2023 at 1:00 p.m. with a reception to follow. A private, family Graveside Service will be held at the Austin Cemetery.
