NORMAN HARRISON

August 23, 1942 – August 10, 2023

“The pain of parting is nothing to the joy of meeting again.” Charles Dickens

On Thursday, August 10, the sweetest and most joyful reunion occurred in Heaven when our father, Norman, was reunited with the love of his life and our precious mother, Anita. We are certain they are now holding hands and cherishing each moment together while they catch up on the last four months they were denied.

Norman leaves to mourn his daughters Sandy, Cheryl (Peter Atchison) and Lisa (Colin Bodnaruk) and his grandchildren Adam (Carly), Kyla and Sydney. He will be fondly remembered by his siblings Florence and Bob (Cindy) and is now catching up on lost time with his brothers, Joe and Ken, who both predeceased him. The loss of Norman is also heavily felt by his in-laws and many close friends, who are as much brothers and sisters to him.

Norman had an enormous heart. He was loyal, kind and humble. He was clever and full to the brim with knowledge gained through all of his life experiences: farmer, power engineer, plumber, electrician, banker, miner, volunteer firefighter, gardener – he could grow, fix or build anything and had a fast-found solution to any problem.

He will be forever remembered for his deep devotion to family, his endless positivity and strength, his sense of humour and his generous heart. He carried these attributes through to his final days.

Special thanks to the outstanding care team at Actionmarguerite St. Boniface who embraced Norman as family for the last two years, and provided compassionate, gentle and loving care to him through to his final days.

A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, August 22, 2023 at 2:00 p.m. at Glen Lawn Funeral Home & Cemetery, 455 Lagimodiere Boulevard.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Heart & Stoke Foundation at www.heartandstroke.ca or the CancerCare Manitoba Foundation at www.cancercare.mb.ca.

Condolences & Memories (3 entries)

  • My sincere sympathies, Sandy, Cheryl and Lisa. Seems like not long ago it was your Mom's funeral, now your Dad's. I unfortunately couldn't make your Dad's funerals but I was happy to see you gals at your Mom's. Yes, Norm was a very gentle and kind man. Anita and Norm were a match made in heaven, on earth. I pray God's peace upon you and your families. - Posted by: Nicole Michaud (Anita's work colleague) on: Sep 09, 2023

  • I am so very sorry for your loss. I have many fond memories of living on Thorndale and waiting for Sandy and Cheryl to be done with the dishes so we could play. They were extremely loving and caring parents and great friends with my folks. They will be missed. 💙💙💙 - Posted by: Marcia Makodanski (Friend) on: Aug 20, 2023
