HAROLD RAYMOND TURNER

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the death of (Harold) Raymond Turner, who passed away peacefully on August 9, 2023 at Extendicare Tuxedo Villa.

He is lovingly remembered by his son-in-law Ron Morissette; grandchildren, Danielle (Frank) and Marc (Aura); great-grandchildren, Robyn and Oscar; sister-in-law Beth Turner; Goddaughters, Darlene Barnes and Mary-Elizabeth Langereis, and numerous close friends and extended family across the globe.

Ray was predeceased by his wife Elizabeth (nee Bowman); daughter Janice Morissette; brother James; and parents, Frank and Otilla (nee Webb).

With faith as his guiding light, Ray was a trailblazer from an early age, having taken a keen interest in the arts, local sports, and travel; the last of which saw him visit numerous countries across six continents. Ray was also an active and dedicated parishioner of All Saints Anglican Church and a longtime member of the Oblate Community/The Winnipeg Sisters of St. Benedict.

Cremation has taken place. A celebration of Ray’s life will take place at All Saints Anglican Church, 521 Broadway, Winnipeg on Saturday, September 30, 2023 at 10:30 a.m. followed by a reception and a private family interment.

A charitable donation in Ray’s memory is preferred in lieu of flowers.

Condolences & Memories (3 entries)

  • As Oblates we respected and appreciated Ray in the Winnipeg Benedictine community. It was easy to love him and we were eager to hear his wisdom. He extended the good friendship of a fellow pilgrim along life’s path, even when the going got tough for him. I’ll always be thankful for the life he shared with us. - Posted by: Elaine Pinto (Fellow Benedictine Oblate) on: Sep 29, 2023

  • I was very lucky to have Mr. Turner as my high school math teacher at West Kildonan Collegiate. He was such a good teacher. In later years, I enjoyed seeing him at a variety of music events. A great voice, great laugh, a great smile. Sincere condolences to his family on the loss of this very good man. - Posted by: Karen (Shreiber) Howell (Former student) on: Aug 20, 2023
