I had the pleasure of working with Gerry for several years at Grant Park School. We had many long conversations together which I really enjoyed. Gerry was passionate about coaching basketball and his students really appreciated his efforts. As a guidance councillor he really cared about his students and made many life long friends. I shall miss him - Posted by: Richard Dooley (Friend) on: Jan 11, 2024

Mr. Boehm was my coach in Grant Park 1972, I believe his first year teaching. He taught me to believe I could be better and made me the Captain which helped me with my self confidence for years ahead. I just retired this year after a successful 40yr career in the financial industry. I know looking back it was individuals like Gerry in those early formative years that allowed me to succeed. I golfed with some Winnipegers today (Bob Town) who passed on the news. So sorry to hear of his passing. David Pennycook (647-505-2479). - Posted by: David Pennycook (Student) on: Dec 28, 2023

I was extremely sad to hear of Gerry's passing. We were extremely close friends through Basketball. We played together for several years and we both played. with the IPAC Buffaloes. Together, We went to at least two Canadian National Basketball Championships one in Lethbridge and I believe one in Toronto and maybe others. I moved to Calgary over 40 years ago and I lost track of Gerry. In that I still have family in Winnipeg, when I visited I attempted to locate Gerry but failed to locate him. He was such a great guy and we had a lot in common. Approximately same size and both loved and succeeded playing Ball. He was a very muscular guy and probably one, if not the best re-bounder in Canada! We hung around with each other along with Fred "Pepsi" Pesclevich" for many years. Gerry was a fun loving, great person and I wish we and our families could have connected. This morning I dug out Team pictures of us and also one of us actually playing, published in the Free Press. Even though we did not connect for many years I thought of him regularly. I learned of his passing from the Manitoba Basketball Hall of Fame Newsletter. He will be missed!
