It is with deep sorrow we mourn the passing of Andrew Philip Kaus at the age of 47 years.
Andrew is survived by his two children, Colt Tryler and Deborah Caroline, his parents, Bengt and Caroline Kaus and his brother Richard Charles Kaus and Deborah, and Colt’s mother Marjie Solmundson.
Andrew loved to work to build community supports and worked to better the communities he called home in Arborg, Iqaluit, Pine Falls, Keewatinoow and Winnipeg.
Andrew loved his two children and tried to instill a sense of understanding and love into the areas where his family resided. He was always trying to bring learning and exploring new ideas with his children.
Andrew graduated from high school at St John’s Ravenscourt and received his bachelor’s degree from the University of Manitoba (1998) and Certified Management Certificate from the University of Manitoba (2018). While working in Pine Falls, he became part of the volunteer fire fighter service and developed a passion for firefighting and rescue through participation in that community service organization. He went on to become a fire chief.
He worked for many organizations and always tried to involve community representation for those around him. His last job with the West Broadway Development Corporation as a housing coordinator was the kind of work, he liked best.
His hobbies were all oriented toward restoring things – old cars, older buildings, and older furniture.
A memorial service to celebrate Andrew’s life will take place on Thursday, September 7, 2023, at 2:00 p.m. at Neil Bardal Funeral Centre, 3030 Notre Dame Avenue.
