CANDACE WOLFE

With great sadness, we announce the sudden passing of Candace Jane Wolfe of Brandon, Manitoba. Candace passed away on August 21st, 2023, at the age of 65.

Candace was born on October 5th, 1957, in Winnipeg, Manitoba, to Michael and Velma Abramchuk. Candace grew up in Winnipeg with her older brother Wayne, and younger sisters Pamela and Barbara. After completing high school, she attended the University of Winnipeg to obtain her education degree. She then got her first teaching job in Berens River, Manitoba, and went on to teach in Rossburn, Sioux Valley, Alexander, and finally Brandon. Throughout her career, Candace taught primary years, reading recovery, resource, and literacy support. She retired in June 2022, but was soon drawn back to the career she loved. She decided to officially end her career in June 2023 to spend more time with her grandkids and travel the world.

For over 30 years, Candace lived in Alexander, Manitoba, where she raised her children: Braden, Emma, and Chelsea. Once her children had fled the nest, Candace moved to Brandon. She lived there with her four cats, who she adored. She loved spending time with Emma, son-in-law Zack, and grandchildren Parker and baby Nora. Candace enjoyed going to Winnipeg to visit Chelsea and looked forward to visits from Braden when he returned from Saskatchewan. Candace’s greatest joy was spending time with her grandkids. She loved taking Parker to experience new things such as to the zoo, Touch a Truck, the beach, and more. She was so excited to be retired and have Emma on maternity leave so she could bond with brand new baby Nora. Candace had a great sense of humour and loved goofing around with her kids and grandkids.

Candace loved to travel, both on her own and with her daughters. In recent years, she had travelled to Greece, Italy, Quebec, Vancouver, and Maui. She was looking forward to her upcoming trips to New York and Newfoundland. Candace took pleasure in spending time with friends and going for a glass of white wine or a spiced rum and coke, dinner, and a sweet treat. Candace was fond of all animals, especially cats. She volunteered at the Brandon Humane Society for many years.

Candace will be greatly missed by everyone who knew her. Candace was such a loving, generous, fun, kind-hearted soul and her passing is a devastating loss to all family and friends.

A private Celebration of Life and graveside service will be held at a later date.

Donations in memory of Candace can be made to the Brandon Humane Society, 2200 17th St E, Brandon, Manitoba, R7A 7M6.
