CHANTELLE RENEE BARTSCH

(nee BEBBINGTON)

Our beautiful girl has left us way too soon. Sadly, after a year-long battle with depression, the pain became unbearable for Chantelle. Chantelle was born in Brandon on November 2, 1977 and passed on August 15, 2023.

Left behind to mourn are her parents, David and Fran Bebbington, her sister Michelle Jacobson (Trevor deJaray), nephews Lane and Noah Jacobson, special sister Sheila Marlow; step-mother Debbie Gastonguay and step-brother Michael Gastonguay, former husband Adam Bartsch and step-daughter Shannon (Izzy). Chantelle was preceded in death by her younger sister, Chelsey Bebbington, leaving a profound absence that echoes in our hearts. She also leaves behind many special uncles, aunts and cousins.

From the day she was born, Chantelle was an animal lover. From travelling to Africa to save the rhinos, to spending a month in Mexico releasing turtles - even appearing on a reality hunting show on OLN, Chantelle lived more in her forty-five years than most do in a long lifetime. Hundreds of people were recipients of her exquisite tattoos. She loved her hunting expeditions and spending time with her koi fish in her backyard paradise she built with her own hands. We will all sorely miss her love and quirky sense of adventure.

Donations in memory of Chantelle may be made to the Brandon Humane Society or a charity of choice.
A private memorial will be held in Campbell River, BC in the near future.

“Grief is like the ocean; it comes in waves ebbing and flowing. Sometimes the water is calm, and sometimes it is overwhelming. All we can do is learn to swim.” - Vicki Harrison

“How lucky we are to have had something that makes saying goodbye so hard.” -Winnie the Pooh.

Condolences & Memories (3 entries)

  • Dear Fran and David, We first met, Fran, when you came to our farm to see our new baby, Kelly. Your ex-sister-in-law, Faye, brought you out from Brandon. We didn't meet again until you taught to Forrest. I never met David nor did I know your family. When we read Chantelle's obituary it just struck a cord in our hearts. We also have two daughters and we can't even imagine the sorrow and heart break that you're going through. Our most sincere sympathy, Gary and Vonda Cranswick, Kelly Cranswick and Jodi Cranswick - Posted by: Vonda Cranswick (Friend) on: Aug 28, 2023

  • Chantelle was a magical soul. From our very first meeting, it felt like I had known her my whole life. She was wise and kind, caring and so giving. At my first sitting with her, she played the ukulele (which she had just taught herself to play) and sang me a song she wrote for her Dad. My heart was attached to her from that day on. Time with her was always special, and somehow spiritual. She left her mark on more than just my skin, she left it on my heart as well - Posted by: Carrie (Friend) on: Aug 26, 2023

  • So very sorry for your loss. Our expression of sympathy can do little but please know we care. - Posted by: Bob and Jackie Johnston (neighbors/friends) on: Aug 26, 2023
