Margaret Christena (McLeod) English was born on April 19, 1927, at Mather, Manitoba to Donald and Florence McLeod. She passed away August 22, 2023, at the age of 96 years.
Margaret moved to Winnipeg where she worked as house help, and then at various jobs, Investors Syndicate, Winnipeg Supply, City Machinery and Allied Farm Equipment. She found her life’s companion, Robert (Bob) English, marrying at Mather, MB, October 7, 1950. They purchased a home at 215 Green Ave., where they welcomed five children. Bob was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis and his mobility became limited. In 1966 they moved to 513 Kingsford Ave., in North Kildonan. Margaret took up a new occupation as a real estate agent, where she could spend more time at home, caring for Bob.
Mom was able to live in her own home, thanks to the care of her son, Jim, until June 2021, when she was moved into the Kildonan Personal Care Home on Henderson Hwy. Our family is grateful to the staff who kindly and lovingly cared for our mother.
Her passing marks the end of her generation in both our parents’ families. Left to mourn are her children: Donald English, Dianne (Gary) Boyko, Janet (Rudy) Isaac, Brian (Karen) English, James English; 16 grandchildren, great-grandchildren and precious great-great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents, husband, her three brothers and spouses, parents-in-law, sisters-in-law, one brother-in-law and one daughter-in-law, Linda.
Funeral Services will be held at John Black United Church, 898 Henderson Hwy., Winnipeg, MB R2K 3T4 at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, August 31, 2023.
