VIOLET SALYN

(nee MALENKI)

It is with great sadness that the family of Violet Salyn announce her peaceful passing at age 92 years on Wednesday, August 30th, 2023, of natural causes.

Violet was born in Stenen, Saskatchewan, on November 28th, 1930. She married Metro Salyn on June 17th, 1951 in Canora, Saskatchewan. They settled in Brandon where they raised their family of five girls.

Violet was an extended mother to many children over the years as she enjoyed a long career operating a home daycare. She especially enjoyed spending time with her five daughters and spouses, as well as six grandchildren and later six great-grandchildren.

Violet was a wonderful friend to many and always eager to help wherever needed. She loved people and her home was always open to all friends and relatives. We will miss her laughter.

Violet was predeceased by her parents, Emil and Martha Malenki; infant daughter Cheryl, daughter Kimberley Derlago; sisters, Nina Ozirney, Liz Szabo and brothers John and Bill.

Lovingly remembered by her husband of 72 years, Metro, and their four daughters, Cindy (Jack) Stouffer, Charlene (Steve) Manning, Cathie Salyn, and Donna (Stu) Brown; grandchildren Amanda (Andrew) Hattie, Meaghan Stouffer, Curtis Manning, Jenna Stouffer, Brittanee (Jacob) Dreyer, Scott (Jess) Manning; great-grandchildren, Joshua, Tyler and Tessa Hattie, Jaxen and Jhett Manning and Isla Stouffer; sister Olga Bymak and brother Harry (Lena) Malenki.

The family would like to thank the wonderful staff at Golden West Centennial Lodge in Winnipeg, where she resided on the 4th floor with her husband Metro since January 2022.

A Celebration of life will be held at a later date.
