WILHELMINA (WILMA) MARGARET CATHERINE WISE
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our dear mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother at Grace Hospice, in the wee hours of the morning, on Thursday, August 24, 2023, at the age of 87 years.
She was predeceased by her beloved husband of 58 years, Ed, in 2015, and infant daughter, Patricia Lynn, in 1960.
Mom will be lovingly remembered and deeply missed by daughters, Kerran Bosc, Cathy (John) Ryan, and Maureen (Sean) Worden; grandchildren, Kyle (Kate), Marc (Janessa), David, Kelleigh, Caitlin (Brody), Samantha (Kevin) and Sydney; great-grandchildren, Declan and Gwen.
Mom was very proud of her Irish heritage. She was the first generation born in Canada. Mom was fortunate to visit Northern Ireland once in her lifetime and many of her Old Country relatives also came to Canada to visit. They faithfully kept in touch throughout the years via letters and phone calls. Mom and Dad both enjoyed travelling with their lifelong friends Joan and Murray and loved going to their cottage too, so it warms our hearts to know they are all together once again. Mom was a fountain of endless good advice. She was extremely generous and was always there for us, willing to help in any way she could. She cherished her family. It was her favourite thing for us all to get together. We are grateful for all the memories we made and the moments we shared. She was a pillar of strength, great to talk to, laugh with and learn from.
The family would like to express their thanks and gratitude to: Dr. Ormiston, family physician; Dr. Andani, Concordia Urgent Care; Alexis, Winnipeg Navigation Services; Lori, WRHA Palliative Care Program; Dr. Fleming and staff at Riverview Health Centre; and Dr. Hartley and staff at Grace Hospice for their guidance, support, care and compassion. Also thank you to the folks at Concordia Village Assisted Living for making Mom feel at home and for welcoming her into the CV family.
At Mom’s request, cremation has taken place and a private family graveside service was held Friday, September 1, 2023.
In lieu of flowers, a donation to CancerCare Manitoba, in Mom’s memory, would be greatly appreciated.
