JOE RINDALL

Our hearts are filled with sadness as we share the news of our Dad, our Pops, our Father-in-Law, our Papa Joe, our Friend, Joe Rindall that peacefully passed away on the morning of August 29, 2023.

Joe was a long-time employee of CN Railway and was able to retire in 1992. Joe married his sweetheart Colleen in 1959, they shared four children, Barb, Jo-Ann, Wendy, Joseph, and grandchildren, Chris, Brandi, Shanel, Dyllan, William, and great-grandchildren, Logan, Ella, Mattea, Ava, Bianca. They shared so many experiences together until Colleen's passing in 2017. He was our Hero, the funny guy, the tough guy, and a Man’s Man. He taught us about the benefits of hard work. Joe was a practical joker. He loved to laugh and tease, especially Colleen. Teasing her became his full-time job in retirement. He lived out his retirement in the Lac Du Bonnet area. He loved the home they built. He referred to it as their Heaven on Earth. He also loved his work, especially the time he spent working at Granite Hills Golf Course. Joe had a passion for both winter and summer. Snowmobiling was a hobby and a passion. He was an integral part of the Lee River Snow Riders from start up. Contributing time building the snow shacks that still exist today on the LRSR trails, to grooming trails, and grooming a large portion of the Canada Trail, his hands were always there to help. He lived a full life that was overflowing with fun, love and support from family and many many friends. He had the most open-door hospitality that one could ever experience. Joe loved his family, his work, his friends, and he loved to party even harder.

And so, on Friday, September 15, 2023 at 10:00 a.m. at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Avenue, Winnipeg, MB, we will celebrate his life. Lunch to follow at Chapel Lawn.

If you knew Joe, then you know, no flowers. And in lieu of donations, he was a simple man, so take your family out for a burger and a beer and say cheers to Joe.

Condolences & Memories (4 entries)

  • I worked with Joe at CN. We were blessed to have met Colleen and find out what a wonderful giving couple they were. I am sorry for your loss. The world has lost another great person. - Posted by: Ross Shaw (Friend) on: Sep 09, 2023

  • So sorry for your loss. I worked with Joe for a number of years some of which in the Car Shop Office where Joe was our Chief Clerk. Joe was a good clerk, knowledgeable and loads of fun. Many of us were subject to Joe's many practical jokes. Joe was also our pitcher in the office slo-pitch league. Nothing made Joe happier than to beat the supervisors. Fun was had by all. Joe was my coffee partner in the office and he used to tell me about his family and how proud he was of them and Colleen. I socialized with Joe and Colleen outside of work at socials and company gatherings and truly enjoyed their company. He will truly be missed by all. My deepest condolences. - Posted by: Gary Chabluk (Co-worker & friend) on: Sep 09, 2023

  • Our deepest condolences from the UK. Jo and Colleen hosted us a number of times over the years, both of them the warmest of souls, warmest of hosts and kind persons truly made for each other. Jo was one of the wittiest and quickest one liner and comeback artists I have every known. I will forever remember snowmobile excursions with him. May he rest in peace. • Joe and I met at CN Rail in the early 80’s. Joe was the funniest, kindest and wisest friend. Within a year I met Colleen. After meeting Colleen, every year she would invite us to the lake and we would spend a full day together on the pontoon boat. We would all sing “Wasn’t it a party” and have a few cocktails. So many wonderful memories spent with Joe and Colleen. We offer our Sincerest Condolences on the passing of your beloved Father and Grandfather.
