MAUREEN LAURETTA DAUN

(nee BURKE)

July 17, 1944 - August 21, 2023

Our beautiful Maureen/Mum/Nana passed away on August 21, 2023, at the age of 79. Maureen has been the rock of our family and rudder of our ship, and it is because of her value of family that she leaves an infinite imprint on so many people’s hearts. Her soft gentle approach, kind, meaningful and impactful words, and selfless and absolute unconditional love are just a few ways that make her special and important to so many. Losing her pains us deeply, but at the same time, gives us great peace and comfort knowing that she is not in pain anymore and that she has reunited with many beloved family members and friends.
Maureen is survived by her cherished husband of 42 years, Calder Daun; her daughters and granddaughters, Christal (Tom) and Mary Vanderelst, and Shannon (Danny) and Amélie Malo; and her stepchildren, Keri, Kelly (Susan), and Chris Daun and their families. She is also survived by her precious sister, Janice (Jim) Cassidy, brother-in-law, Alan Jonsson, and her many nieces and nephews and their families.
She is predeceased by her parents, Norman and Laurette Burke; brother Robert (Bunny) Burke; sisters, Velma Burke, Pinky Jonsson, and Joyce Manns; sister-in-law Bunny Burke, brother-in-law Steve (Bobbi) Daun, and honorary sister, Helen (Everett) Smallwood.
We wish to express our deepest gratitude to Janice Cassidy, Maureen’s sister, for her fierce and loving devotion and commitment to Maureen’s care and comfort while in hospital. She was steadfast and true to her beloved sister, and her support extended to all of us.
As per Maureen’s wishes, cremation has taken place and there will be no formal funeral service.
