Rest In Peace Lorraine, you accomplished a fine painting style with water colours. When I moved to this town, Winnipeg Beach, Westshore of Lake Winnipeg, I met Lorraine. That makes it about 25 years and then some. Gimli Art Club was already an institution and a hub for creative people. Lorraine already had an accomplished style in water colours, she and Norma Torbet and Mabel Tinguely and the indomitable Kathy Hasty, as well Miss Jackson were inspiring the local budding artists, already. Lorraine's soft spokenness was loud and clear, and when I gathered the creative people to come with me and form the WAVE INTERLAKE ARTISTS' TOUR 2002, Lorraine was an enthusiastic participant and volunteer. Her studio was already offering wall to wall local landscapes. Bravo Lorraine and her supporting husband, they made a great team. She developed her art form to high accomplishment by taking lessons from teachers who would give her enormous opportunity to grow her skills. Lorraine is missed by all who knew her, she has a place next to the notable artists of Icelandic descent and younger Gimli Art Club generation. thank you Lorraine and Rest In Peace. - Posted by: Helma Rogge Rehders (Colleague in fine art creations) on: Sep 15, 2023

I am saddened to hear of this. I will remember Lorraine though every time I look at my walls, and the beautiful paintings I purchased over the years. - Posted by: Barbara Froman (Friend) on: Sep 12, 2023

We are very sad to hear of your passing. The art world will miss you. I only knew you and your husband while we lived at Ukrainian Park in Camp Morton for 5 years and thank you for your friendship. When we moved to Brandon, we lived in the Lions Manor where your mother-in-law lived and she always song your praises. Upon leaving Gimli, I purchased one of your paintings to remind me of the area, now it reminds me more of you. Condolences to the family. I was so sad to hear of Lorraine’s passing. She was a dear friend and my art mentor and I will miss her dearly. Lorraine was a wonderful artist and was ready to help those who needed her knowledge and expertise when it came to creating art. She taught art classes and coached so many of us at the Gimli Art Club. A great lady. She will be missed by so many. Condolences to the family. - Posted by: Mitzi Maksymyk (Friend) on: Sep 09, 2023
